I always love how on these shows the guys "do the research" and "crunch the numbers". Then you see them do things like finish the floors before they've painted the walls.

I'm a bit disappointed that Property Ladder is now airing shows without giving the actual final sale results. At the end of this episode, the home was still listed. I know they want to rush the episodes to air, but having the final result was actually what separated this show from those other flip shows where a realtor gives some artificial inflated price at the end. I hope that TLC will update these episodes when they rerun them with the actual sale price.

How long do you want TLC to wait for a home to sell before they put an episode on the air? There are two 'flip houses' close to mine which took well over a year to sell. On the tri-pod episode this week, the inspection report says "March 2007"... do you think TLC will wait all the way until late spring 2008 to show an episode just to have a final sale price?

I definitely found it funny that they did the floors right off the bat. At the beginning they made a comment about how "at a certain point you gotta stop reading books and watching shows and actually jump in.." At what point in all their research did they learn that refinishing hardwood floors is step #1?

This episode was pretty crazy. A case of "we're 3 smart guys.. we know what we're doing" just burned them. Kirsten was right on target: all they needed was to do a couple things here and there to tighten up the place.

I liked their initial kitchen comments: "We're just going to do a couple things here.. granite counter.. near flooring.. new appliances.. and maybe new cabinets"... He might as well have said "we're gutting the whole thing and starting over."

I couldn't get over the fact that not one of the three guys seemed to be in charge. Ironically, this week's Forbes Magazine quotes were about committees. The Art Linkletter quote fits the best, "Committees are to get everybody together and homogenize their thinking." That's what happened here. Not one of the guys seemed to have an original thought. Hmmm, maybe it's not a good idea to keep building the addition after we found this lake in the back yard.

Anyway, my wife and I have a few more thoughts about this episode at out blog, thepropertypundit.com. Enjoy!

Property Ladder not being able to show the sale results just exemplifies how bad the real estate market is right now.

I'll be interested in seeing how the downturn in real estate in the US affects shows like Property Ladder. I watch these shows to learn. Mostly, what I learn is how NOT to do things (and I'm not inclined to do anything anymore). When the flippers are hard-heads who refuse to heed Kirsten's advice, I then shift in the rooting-against-the-protagonist(s) mode. A sense of justice wants to see the idiots fall flat on their faces.

These guys were inordinately confident in themselves despite their lack of experience.

They had it going on in the beginning, it seemed, with their home that only needed cosmetic touches, but in the end, stupidity ruled the day.

In my twenties, I was one who heeded others' mistakes and rarely repeated them. I guess some people have to make their own.

I agree with you. They NEVER really listened to Kirsten. When she would give them advice they would counter her by saying "Well we are gonna do this..." They had a know it all mentality and deserved to fail. I knew they were gonna do something stupid when I seen the house and heard the budget! They should have read her book.

I thought it was funny that they dug the little "groundbreaking" hole in the backyard (after of course the huge hole full of water in the back yard) and then it filled with water.. and were surprised about it! all i could do was laugh.

This was the funniest show my husband and I ever watched. What idiots. I am surprised nobody mentioned that they would have fired the contractor as soon as he let that broken countertop be installed in the first place. I don't care if he finally replaced it or not, what a hack for installing it after it was broken. I'd love to know if they sold it or not yet, and how much if anything they ended up making. This website needs a place for updates on the show. They can't wait forever to air it, but they sure can update us online.

I don't see how these three are going to make it in real estate LOL!

I have to admit that after watching them blow off Kirsten's advice, I was rooting for them to fail. Then when they started that stupid addition that really wasn't needed, well they got what they deserved, NO PROFIT!

If they would've listened, done what Kirsten suggested, they could've made a nice profit. But as their timeline exploded, I was like what a bunch of morons LOL!

Plus with that drainage problem in the backyard, I'm not so sure I'd want to spend that kind of money on that house.

Tripod idiots. The big problem with them was 3 guys equal partners. So they all have ideas they want implimented. In a flip situation. The less people involved the better. They should have named 1 partner the controlling partner to filter out all the nonsence. Not to mention a 3 way split on profit.

Big Ideas, daddy's money, bad planning, no practial experience equal daddy's wallet a bit lighter.

Here is how a TRI-POD parnership works best.

1st partner is the Money

2nd partner is archetct/engineer

3rd partner is a general Contractor.

All basis covered.
