Although your life was cut short you made your mark in both families the Whiskers and the Commando's .
May you always be remembered for the way that you won over Nikta aka Zorilla and stood bravely at her side as her equal her DM. Although your reign was short I will always wonder if you could have stayed on top as long as Zaphod has.

He truly was one of a kind. I am glad they did not mention how he passed, instead they showed what his cause of death was. RIP Zorro.

Let's not forget when Flower died and Rocket Dog took over our little Zorro helped her out several times as dominant male at the Whiskers burrow before he emigrated to the Commandos. RIP little Zorro, you had it in you all the time. You were a litter mate to Monkulus( Maybelline) and she too has come through and shown true leadership.

To Our Dear Zorro/Zara
Even though you didn't reign very long, you were valued highly by us. I didn't like it when they called you "lazy." Your sisters may have lived longer, but you proved that you could defend your position and that counts for quite a bit.
Miles is now running the show, from what I have heard. He may have been Nikita's favorite, but I barely knew who he was. We all wanted to see YOU win, and you did. Your brother Baker is there to keep you company, as are your mother and father, your sister Rocket Dog, and many others.
We will miss you. May you always live on in our hearts.

I have been watch this show for as long as it has been on. and i have to say its one of the best shows on tv... but i am to talk about something that bothers me. i know the film crew is not supposed to step in and help when nature is at its worst but we put those radio collars on there... Right?? so someone tell me why someone somewhere shoudnt have done something for rocketdog when she got bite yes maybe she woudl have ended up the same without that radio collar but am i the only one who thinks that when she got bite and her head swelled up that radio collar could have closed off her airway??? i am not sure how i feel about this show anymore again the same thing coud have happend buit to mt it looked as though she was sufffacting and becasue of that i might have lost repect for the film crew who put that thing on her

shokacon, you have brought up a valid point. We humans put the collars on them. They're supposed to help them locate the families by tracking the dominants. I don't know why the rule doesn't work in reverse, allowing them to remove the collars if the meerkat is in danger.
Rocket Dog's face was so swollen, I have no idea if she could actually see through her mostly closed eyes. It was obviously very painful for her. While Rocket Dog survived her bite, she ended up dying, struck by a car. Such a needless death.
Poor Zara is gone, and he wasn't featured in most episodes, so we never really got a chance to know him. I hope Miles fares better.

shockacon,
They have a policy for dealing with head injuries in collared meerkats-- if it is necessary they remove or loosen the collar. Flower's collar was removed after the researcher's found her (they also moved her into the shade, although later she tried to follow the group out to forage, and when she could not went to lie down in a burrow entrance) because her head was severely swollen. Rocket's was loosened. In some of the scenes it did look very tight, but I guess it never seemed to cause her any dangerous problems or added pain so it was not removed. I'm sure when they realized she had been bitten they called the project manager (only the most experienced researchers deal with collars, which must be perfectly fitted to be safe) and they watched over Rocket as best they could.

Was Zorro really like he was portrayed in season 4? I don't know a lot about the meerkats, but he seemed kind of mean in season 4 when he was fighting for dominance.

Zorro was played by Zarathustra, who appeared under several names during MM. He played Big Will in season 2 after the real Big Will roved away. He was also seen as Jogu or Mitch in some scenes of season 3, and he could be very brave and heroic.
He did evict some of his brothers, which is a relatively rare behavior. But dominance fights are always brutal, showing weakiness then could be a death sentence or at least the loss of the chance to ever have pups. He was a strong DM and he did his best to protect his family, whichever one he was in. Many people were shocked by his sudden death; he was expected to lead a long and successful life, as he had always been on of the foremost of Flower's sons. His passing was a disaster for Commandos.

RDfan, if you want to learn more about the Commandos then you should visit the spoiler board, or look up the groups pages at FKMP. A lot has happened since S4 ended and not everyone might want to know.

Okay, thanks! Don't you have to pay at FKMP?

you can pay to get a membership, which includes more details and other info than the public site. But there is also a lot of free information on the site, including monthly life history reports for all the groups and pages with short descriptions of all the groups KMP has ever studied. There is the occasional typo, but all the info is true.

Wow, thanks! I've been to the site before, but I wasn't sure how much I could get to for free. I did get some cute pictures, though.
