Hi Zoeecat! Well I have had many cats over the years and while I have never had a problem with the dander there are products out on the market to help control the dander. I would recomend going to PetSmart or PetCo and getting some bath wipes for cats,It's like giving the cat a bath with out the water. Or check with your vet and ask him or her the best cource of action would be to take. Hope this helps. Neo554
Dear Zoeecat: Here are two more suggestions to help reduce pet dander in your home. 1) Get a flea comb (very inexpensive!) and use it to comb out shed hair every 3-4 days for each cat. Be sure to put the hair you get in a garbage where it won't float back into the house.
2) Bathe your cat regularly - once a month. Depending on the cat, this may be a simple, one person 20 minute job, or a complex 30 two person job. You can use baby shampoo is you don't have cat shampoo. Be sure to keep the shampoo bubbles out of the cat's eyes and clean the cat hair collected in the drain when you are done.
If your family is alergic to pet dander, they should check with the doctor about the seriousness of their symptoms and what can treat them.
Good luck. Congratulations for adopting a pet and being willing to do the work to make it at home with your family. Mary
