We were really worried she might not make it, but she really is a trooper. We have named her Deeter. Short for Determined.
She has two hurt legs. Front left leg is limp, but is getting more and more movement everyday. Her back right leg is broken, and has a bad wound. She has a bandage/splint right now.
We have been to the Vet twice so far. Second time was for an enema because she was bloated. I have her bowels under control now. She gets about a teaspoon of pumpkin with each meal, and now her bowels are good.
We are not certain about the future of her legs, but we are very hopeful she wont need any amputations. Even though we know she would be ok.
She is an orange DSH, and we have pictures of her, but I don't know how to put them here, I'm sorry.
We plan to be in this for the long haul for Deeter, and pray everyday she will be just fine.
I didn't know how to put a picture of Deeter here, but here is a link to our Vet Clinic with Deeter's picture. This is with her most recent bandage/splint change. Orange with happy faces, kinda goes with her coat.
We were at the Vet yesterday because Deeter had a fever, and her wound didn't smell right. Deeter's hind leg amputation is scheduled for Monday morning. I really hate doing this to her. The doctor said her poor little leg just can't be saved, and she has an ongoing infection in that wound, so we have to do this asap, or it could be life threatening.
The infection isn't getting better despite the fact that she is on the stongest antibiotic, and I am using antibiotic oint on her wound. I am still crying, started at the Vet. I hate this....
We don't have all the money for this, but we are doing the best we can. Will cost around $750.00 for everything. We have a $150.00 credit with them right now, and will have to pay another $200.00 on the 24th, they would like a little more, but we may not be able to. Then, we pay it off every payday until the balance is paid, in 2 payments, so probably around $175.00 or so.
At least they are working with us, and we are grateful for that, and Deeter will get the help she so desperately needs.
I am going to be watching her extra carefully now, and if anything changes before Monday morning, I am to call the Vet immediately. I'm pretty sure she will be ok until then, but we can't let this go any longer than that.
