Finally a chance for those who work for/by/and with 911 to speak from behind the console. It is refreshing to see who the 911 professionals are and have them educate citizens about what they do. The job is getting tougher all of the time and the dispatchers are taking more and more grief for sounding like they don't care. In truth, there are millions of successful calls like these every single day because these professionals DO care!

I'm excited and a bit hesitant to see more of these episodes since Rescue 911 always showed happy endings too. The reality is not every call ends in a happy resolution. Drama is drama and this job is full of it. I'm glad to hear the dispatchers tell it like it is! Smile

Nice job Discovery! Thank you!!!

Unfortunately not all calls end in happy endings.

Denise Amber Lee
a 21-year-old married mother of two young sons, Noah and Adam. On January 17, 2008, Denise was kidnapped from her North Port, Florida home, raped, and murdered by a local man, Michael King. A random act of evil. There is no connection between the two. On the night of her abduction, there were at least four calls placed to 911, one made by Denise herself. A woman, Jane Kowalski, who saw Denise struggling in the backseat of her abductor's car, also called 911. She was able to give exact information as to the whereabouts of Michael King's car. This call was routed through to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office (Denise's abduction took place in neighboring Sarasota County). Through a series of errors on the part of the dispatchers at the CCSO office, no one was ever dispatched to check on this call. Because they did not send anyone out to check on the call, Denise lost her last chance at being saved.

Our mission now is to change the way that 911 calls are handled. Currently, most states have no kind of standards set for the training of 911 dispatchers. Although Florida is making an effort (a bill for 911 reform was recently passed in Denise's name), it is still considered a voluntary measure to participate in the training standards. We would like to see proper training become mandatory, not voluntary. We'd like to learn from the mistakes made, move forward and fix the inadequacies. 911 is here to save lives, and when it doesn't because of confusion and procedural breakdowns, that is unacceptable. We need to restore confidence in the 911 system. That is the most important thing. 911 operators and dispatchers should be praised for doing their job correctly, not everyone can handle the high stress conditions of the job. God bless all the 911 operators out there who care and are working so hard to do their job and keep us all safe. May God give them the strength and guidance needed to do their job to the best of their ability.

Let's unite and make our country a safer place by improving our 911 system.

I love this show!! It is so awsome. I'm going to school and plan on being a dispatcher when I graduate. Even my kids watch the show with me.

My wife works as a PSR for LAPD one night after her shift she rescued a suicidal woman from freeway lanes. attached is a video I posted on youtube. The call is the actual 911 call, the recording in the background is the dispatcher trying to contact the CHP.

I've been a 911 Dispatcher/Call Taker/Teletype Operator for 2 years. It's a rewarding, challenging, and demanding job, but I love it. On any given day you go home knowing you helped save at least one life.

I just discovered the Call 911 show and was very impresssed with the realism. I commend Investigation Discovery for creating and airing the show.

The one thing I would love to see added and I was disappointed not to see on the top 10 list of things needed when calling 911 is to give your LOCATION. No matter what's wrong, we can't send you help if we don't know where you are. The most important thing and first thing to tell your operator should be to advise where the emergency is occurring. Then advise what the emergency is, who's involved, etc.

Please keep this show on the air. Thanks, Sheryl

Hi, I am a 911 Operator in Louisville Ky. Discovery Channel came to our center and did interviews with 3 of my coworkers. I am really excited to see when they will be on.

I love my job very much and its neat to hear stories from people just like me in other parts of the country.

Hello my fellow dispatchers and aspiring ones! My department had the honor of being a part of this show. We taped it back in october and it has recently aired. I think that is awesome to be given a voice for what we do. We dont always get the respect or gratitude that we would like but when a call ends well it is definately a great feeling. I respect you all for what you do everyday. Keep up the awesome work. Thanks for coming to Fort Wayne Indiana CALL 911!!

I'm glad to see this show has been picked up. There are fans of Rescue 911 who've posted episodes on YouTube and wanted to the show come back. While Call 911 is not exactly the same as Rescue 911, it is very similar. Rescue 911 helped save many lives, but since it went off the air technology and times have changed, so it is good to have a 911 show on the air.
