Great title...i'm very excited to see this one. Haven't seen a commercial for it though.

" Nadia and Leslie team up with homeowner Kelly, to use their girl power, to surprise her fiancé, with an amazing kitchen makeover. It's no easy task in a completely gutted kitchen that has no floor. Hopefully their design won't be too feminine for Shawn."

I really loved the design on this ep. I thought the kitchen and dining room came out great. I loved the color palette.

I thought Leslie did a great job being the only carpenter on this ep. It was cool to see Evan do the welding work too.

Oh I agree..I liked everything about this eppy. I thought it was funny when Evan was trying to put an appliance out for trash and it kinda rolled back at him so he striked a fight pose. I thought Leslie did great on her own, the design was clean and crisp; refreshing in my opinion. And of course we cant forget Ryan fixing the welder, again he comes to the rescue.Smile

Although I liked the design, I don't like the new format. With only one carpenter, things aren't getting done. For some reason, they decided to do 2 rooms, and not only didn't the maple fooring get put down in the kitchen, at the reveal, it looked like the tile had not been grouted as well.
I also mainly watch the show for the interaction between cast members. I loved the way that ADJ and Leslie worked together. And I don't want to watch the Production Assistant doing the sewing. With only one carpenter, there's too much Evan. Believe it or not, I'm not interested in watching him rip his shirt off. It was interesting to see him welding, and it was a very nice pot rack.
But I just don't care for the direction the show is going.

i agree with noyellowalls when i comes to the new direction & the one carpenter...the interaction is key to the success of WYWO. there could never be too much Evan though (my personal opinion) Big Grin

i really miss having two carpenters, its great that the 'behind-the-scenes' crew is more involved....but...the on-screen cast is much more entertaining.

Leslie was phenomenal...i loved when she was having a 'conversation' with the guys in the van. The pot rack was great, i wished they had done the floor though (with 2 carpenters, im sure it would of gotten done. Nadia did a great job with the design...she rocks.

Evan was really funny....as usual...but somethings missing....i hope the producers change their minds and bring 2 carpenters back.

did they show the part with Leslie wanting to go to the bathroom? i cant remember.

drinking game(water) + Sal = fun during chats.

okay Sal showed up a lot during this episode. Ryan helping Evan with the welding thingy was cool.. but why were they lying down? The design was really nice.. the living room was gorgeous.. leslie was so nice taking breakfast out to andrew and jason (hehe) and evan kept playing with the welding mask. Nadia and Leslie looked so pretty in this episode but evan still needs a hair cut. Lovely design and fun episode.

So that we could get a good look at their butts? On that subject - Ryan's jeans were definately tight in that area. Unfortunately, Evan's weren't. Actually I'd say it was because the thing they were working on was on the ground.

Just let me correct one thing. Bobby (the guy doing the sewing) is not a P.A. He is the property master and he and Jim Prodger (project manager) are the two important people who drive the truck all over the country. He plays a valuable role on the show. You've probably seen him before in episodes like Miracle Miles and the Bird Cage room. Ali describes Bobby as "our amazing property master who collaborates on many projects".

Okay. Now for my thoughts on the episode. It bored me. I love the interaction with the cast more when there are 4 people. If they change the show any more (like this), I think that I'll just stop watching it. Loved how Jason talked to Leslie but Andrew did not call back. Also loved the hand moment on day 2. Other than that, I didn't enjoy it. I've noticed that I haven't enjoyed the episodes lately.

In Evan's Journal on his site he mentioned the other day that Brian (the guy who showed up and kept showing up) is driving the truck now too.

Nadia mentioned in her chat last night that last night's ep has been the only one she has done with one carpenter. So I think we will still have eps with two carpenters.

I don't think 2 carpenters would have made a difference in getting the kitchen floor put down. There was too much activity in the kitchen with the cabint installation, Leslie's shelves and the window valences to stop work to put down a floor.

The chat was fun! Nadia mentioned that she hooked Evan up with a friend of hers to give him welding lessons. She said he picked it up quickly.
Good thing he had protective clothes on. My father once did welding while wearing shorts. Not a bright idea. Just a tip, when welding or working with metal and heat keep your skin protected and make sure your pants are over your boots/shoes and not tucked into them.
I felt bad for Nadia with all of the stress but she handled it beautifully.
Leslie was really funny. I loved her reaction to the homeowner saying the answer was not option C (about Nadia and Leslie being hot). It was sweet that Leslie pointed out that Evan made the pot rack. She seemed so proud of him and he was being modest.
He really seemed to enjoy having just the ladies there.
The shirt ripping open thing was funny. Good to see them enjoying themselves. Evan has definetly lost weight.
His proposal quiz was pretty funny. Sounded like he was trying to do an Elvis voice. The bit where he pretended to kiss the hand puppet was funny too.
It was so sweet when he asked her if it was love at first sight. He seems to think about that alot.
I think we saw more behind the scenes people than ever in this one. Poor Leslie didn't get to do her sewing. :-(
I enjoyed this episode and the homeowner really seemed blown away by the final kitchen.
There were only two elements of the design I didn't like. One was the tiles on the counter-- I just don't like tile because it's harder to clean and has a tendancy to be less even/smoothe than other surfaces. Second, I didn't like the shelf right over the kitchen faucet. Not just because it was unpainted, but because it looked like it would get in the way. With all the stuff my kitchen sink gets used for it needs alot of space above it and around it.
I almost forgot about the dead bird. Poor thing. :-(
Evan seemed to be giving it a little funeral.
I also almost forgot the singing. It was cute to see some singing going on from both Evan and Leslie.
Leslie did a great job, especially considering she'd never done that stuff before.
That's all I can think of for now.

Yeah, it was definitely a great episode. I agree, I thought the proposal "reenactment" that Evan did was absolutely hilarious. I was laughing so hard when he did that!

The singing between Leslie and Evan was also great. I love Evan's voice!

I love Nadia's work, but I felt that the dining room wasn't as creative and interesting as it could have been. It seemed a little dull to me, but that is not to say that the effort in making the dining room went wasted.

Yep, they were all having tons of fun with the Girls Gone WYWO bit. Opening their jackets, shirts, etc. was so funny! Very evident that Evan was enjoying the gals' company. Hehe.

I loved the shade of purple they used for the walls. Then again, I am biased since I am crazy about purple!

Leslie kicked some major butt with her carpentry, despite not sewing this time! Poor Leslie was in stress because she didn't want to make her first experience with building shelves be bad.

Yes, Nadia was brilliant under pressure. I always tend to freak out whenever they are short on time, which is almost always, and she handled it well. I am glad that she is not the type to take out her frustrations on Evan or Leslie, or anyone else working with her.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this episode!

It was an okay episode. The girls did a great job but would have liked it better if it was two carpenters. They should of had Leslie and Ali instead of just Leslie if they were going to do an all girls thing or bring in Andrew or Jason.I was bored with it after a few minutes.Personally Andrew,Leslie,Jason and Ali make the show for me and how they interact with each other and the designers as well as balance and play off of each others personalities. They should stick to what works.Between all the time changes and everything else It's starting to loose me a bit. I enjoyed the episode, and only have a couple of things to add to what everyone else has already said.

First, Leslie continues to amaze me. She is one talented lady!! She's a brilliant seamstress, carpenter, artist, designer and now she's clearly an amazing cook as well! Is there no end to her talents?!

I'd have to disagree with one of the earlier posters, while I definitely prefer two carpenters, there's no such thing as too much Evan for me! Smile

And finally, the thing about this episode that gives me hope that the lone carpenter is temporary, is that they made a point of mentioning it several times. Had they just gone on as if it was business as usual like the last ep with just Jason, then I'd have been worried this was the new normal. But it appears, they were acknowledging that normally there should be two.

I really liked the design on this show. As usual, Nadia, Leslie and Evan did a great job. However, not having the second carpenter does leave a gap. How could they take Leslie, a pro seamstress, out of sewing world?? That's like taking Steve Irwin away from crocs Eek! I hope they'll still allow her and Ali to do their sewing. I don't mind the budget going up or seeing more of the crew, though.

Is it possible that Evan is now considered the second carpenter? He does great work, but as I said before, not having Jason or Andrew doesn't seem right. Having the key 4-person crew has always been fun to watch. The more the merrier! I hope TLC reconsiders this option.

One suggestion for Evan when welding is to wear suntan lotion on his face. I noticed his face got a bit burned. My brother is a welder and learned to wear it after his face was constantly getting burned. Wink

I guess Evan's teacher didn't tell him that huh. Most of us laypeople probably assume that the mask prevents that. I know I would have never thought of that.

I can just picture Evan making a big show of smearing sunscreen on his face. He'd probably get the kid's sunscreen that goes on a funky color just for fun.

It was great to see the ladies...the job they did was great. However, would have been better with Ali and Chayse added to the show....drama for sure!It was not as fun to watch as when it's all of my favorite carpenters. We need more Ali and Andrew...haven't seen them in too long!!!.Have seen a lot of Leslie and Jason lately which is always cool but I don't like this one carpenter thing at all.I'm starting to tune out.

I love Leslie! She made this episode rock! She even included the boys! I hope it was her way of letting the powers that be she wants to work with the guys not just alone! Leslie's humor in this episode made it worth while but one time doesn't cut it! We need to see our TV family together not seperate! I just have to say that Evan can be my bosley anytime! As he can see my name already has angel in it!!!

Was there a budget on this episode? I wonder if the lack of a second carpenter was so that they could increase the amount of $$ spent. All of those new appliances alone had to exceed the $2000 budget of the 'old days'.

Since this episode ran again this afternoon (here in NM its at 4pm on weekdays), I thought it might be fun to bump the thread . .
I find Leslie just delightful . . she reminds me a lot of my own daughter, who also is involved in theater, and who designs sets, does costumes, directs and performs . . her name is Leslie too . .
