I just finished watching the “While You Were Out” episode on Sunday, July 2nd, "Stripe It Rich." I really felt sorry for the young wife. Not only did her husband find out about the surprise, but the design was really awful. I feel that rather than giving the dining room an elegant and artistic design, the interior decorator (I forget his name, sorry) decided to use the couple's room as his own canvas for decorating as he so chose. His work would be much more respected at an amateur interior expo, using such works as the creative (but tacky) black curler chandelier. You could tell by the look on the wife's face at the end of the show that she was truly upset and completely disappointed and I do not blame her. I will miss the enthusiasm of your show, but I will not miss the inadequate decorating.
Well, whether or not its a'new' episode isn't really Shabby's point, now, is it? I agree that Mark Montano created what (to me) was an ugly dining room. The wife truly looked like she might cry at any moment, and the husband, who had already suffered the disappointing back yard 'extravaganza' seemed to feel pretty much the same about the 'real' room. Mark has done some amazing designs . . this was not one of them . . no matter WHEN it first aired.
not one of my favorite "mark" rooms, but i'm not sure the homeowners hated it. the husband was an artist and i think he appreciated the artistic value. i do agree it was not exactly what i would have expected and i think she was so upset about him finding out that she just wanted it to be over.
I was cringing through that entire episode. That poor wife was very polite, but I could tell she was devastated. Mark didn't consult with the homeowner at all about what she wanted. I seriously doubt that anybody would like his hideous design. A glass table with fake plastic grass underneath?! What was he thinking? They probably had to undo the entire room and fix it themselves. Those poor people. I used to want to be on WYWO, but I really didn't want Mark to be the designer who would redo a room in my home. I've never liked any of his designs. But this one took the cake.
Back in the day, the designers didn't really consult with the homeowner. They had a plan all ready based upon the video and personalities of the ho. Didn't mean it was always right on, but there was no input from anyone. Like I said above they may have liked it being an artist. I actually couldn't watch it fri. because it made me uncomfortable at the end when they faked him out with the horrible back yard. Although,I think it was a great idea, considering he knewwhat was going on.
I apologize for responding to this with a different topic. I am new to this and need direction. I am trying to apply to be on "While You Were Out" as a surprise gift for my mom, but I cannot locate any links. Can you please assist me?
since you are a new member i will be kind and tell you to look at other threads on this forum. first go into while you were talking, and look for sad news.... and read on. you can also go into wywo homeowners, and to the thread that shows up about getting on the show and read from the top. that's all i'm going to say.
To save you some time searching this board, I'd like to help you. The show "While You Were Out" has been cancelled and is no longer in production. They currently re-run episodes of the past seasons each day and on the weekends. I believe this too is phasing out as well. This is why you cannot find links to particpate on the show.
