Does anyone know how the fireplace was done in Shara's house tonight?

Yes, I did much of it on the episode. (The other, not the brother). It can be a pretty easy project. A sheet of 1/4" luan was cut into the desired size block in this case about the size of a cinder block. Originally we were supposed to glue them to the wall, but because of the rain, they were curling and popping. And in the interest of time for the show, we ended up just nailing it to the wall, which was a real pain afterwards having to putty over all of those nail holes, sand them, and stain and stiple them to match the grain. SO, I would suggest TAKING YOUR TIME and glueing them, wait till they've dried before staining. OH!!! AND PAINT OR STAIN THE WALL FIRST!! We had to go back with a tiny bush and force stain in all of those "grout lines" at 10 PM. But, yup it turned out really well, even off-camera. Good luck on yours!

I missed that episode. Any chance you can post or send a picture? I have an ugly fake-rock fireplace I need to fix. Thanks!
