I haven't seen the show in a couple of months but check in from time to time on this board. I noticed people making comments on Edward's recent rooms and how they are getting worse and worse. While I have not seen them obviously, I notice this has all come about since that horrible Through the Roof thing. I thought he was bigger than that, but I think he is now conforming to the "extreme" side of things after he didn't get picked on that show. It's really a shame, too. He did such good work. Again, I haven't seen these rooms everyone is commenting on, but those who like Edward's work wouldn't make say those things for no good reason I suspect. Any other ideas?

I love Edward, and Vern and Frank, and Lori and Christie...I guess I like the down to earth stuff... Hildy's stuff is usually too much for me, and sometimes too much for everyone, I think. Doug is just having fun at our expense...he is talented and maybe he is bored, but I am less inclined to watch when he is on...I hope he finds fulfillment in his new show, which I also don't watch.

It seems like every show has to change, to keep the audience guessing, but if they change too much they lose the spark that made them great to begin with. I see that happening a lot lately. I am happy to be able to see the reruns. I enjoy them over and over again...

Quoted by Sandyinnorththprov"Doug is just having fun at our expense...he is talented and maybe he is bored....I hope he finds fulfillment in his new show, which I also don't watch". Being a very devoted fan of Doug Wilson I can only speculate that Doug isn't bored,he's incredibly busy, doing many creative design projects, promoting his NEW BOOK,which is excellent. Also completing an episode of America's Uggliest Bedrooms,in which he was solo, with no guests to vote on anything, also adding he was the "Executive Producer" of ,if you would have seen the 2 hour special. It was his best episode of USA'S Ugliest. That was alot to say ,and I do have more, but as you seem to think Doug Wilson is just bored, rethink that.No other designer on the show Trading Spaces has taken on so many creative endeavors, and succeded,as he has.He is now getting ready to do season #2 of "Moving Up".Which was/is an excellent show ,allowing Doug to show his talent as a host as well as his design expertise.I don't mean to attack you ,but don't assume he's kicking back on some beach somewhere, killing time.As for Edward Walker's grand slide down the design ladder ,Yes I have lost some of my respect for his work, and one thing that still stands out was when he and Hildi did those Rich People's houses in Florida?,and Hildi made a cement dining room. That one anappreciative snob actually wanted a piece of Edwards hair, and he allowed that. That was too wierd, and I thought he just "sold out "doing whatever he could to please a greedy homeowner.I also think the new format is the chance for home owners to use way to much control, hardly allowing the designers to be at their creative best.Sorry to appear to direct all this at you ,but wanted to clear up the Doug thing. Trading Spaces is, as you stated lost it's spark, and with that, lost alot of really great designs by those who do still have talent, but are so restricted.

I don't think his rooms are getting worse. Honestly. The purple ceiling made me a little anxious, but otherwise, he's fab!!! How can you not love Edward? He's the best!!!

To sandyinnorthprov,
I sincerly appologize for basically attacking you on your opionion re: Doug Wilson,You didn't deserve it, nor does it appear you want an update on all things "Wilson",because you would have recieved emails as I do from Douglas Wilson LTD,because I chose to be part of the Doug thing.I hope that this post clears up any wrong intent I have directed towards you.As for your insights on Edward,& T.S.,I agree with your comments.Again, you didn't deserve the" Doug Wilson list of accomplishments",and were in no way offensive or rude in your comments. I believe I was, hope this gets read soon after my initial post which you didn't deserve.
sorry to sandyinnorthprov,
dawfan,feeling really dumb right now.

Dawfan, you poor baby! We've all had our moments - and yes, I include myself - but overall we're really not that bad. On this forum it seems you have to both dish it out and take it. Not to worry, Mod_Ivy will mod or swiffer pretty much 95% of what I say so I hope you know this was not meant in a snarky way. Chin up and give this board a chance, you might be surprised from time to time.

Yeah..and think about the poor Hildi fans! It's like being a Houston Oilers fan! And they take it like the great ladies and gentlemen they are. It's all in fun. We all have our favorites, we all have our...least favorites..but collectively, we're all huge fans of the show. Put a flower behind your ear, slip on your clown shoes and have some fun.

I can't say that Edward is 'getting worse' generally, but I have seen a few of his later rooms that were less than fab. A blue and black bedroom in Nawleens comes to mind. Also, I love his attention to detail, but feel he has always tended to add one or two too many tchotchkes. But overall, he is not bad.

I have not been tuning in very much since Paige is no longer on the show, but I have NEVER seen a room that Edward has designed that I have not loved. It amazes me what beautiful rooms he achieves on such a limited budget - he can come and do any room in my house ANY TIMe! I think he is absolutely fantastic and he is the ONLY reason I ever tune into a show without Paige. I wish the producers would pay some attention to the comments that long time viewers make and bring the heart back into the show.

Since they got rid of Paige, I have not watched any of the new programs. However the only designer I would watch is Edward. I think his rooms are the best of any of the designers. It cannot be easy to come up with a new design every time.

Sandy - amazingly, I thought I would never watch Doug's new show (Moving Up) because I didn't care for him on TS but it has really grown on me. He's charming & funny - so much different from "Doug the Designer" on TS.

So give it a chance - Judy

Love Edward, every Designer has a room or two that isn't their best, no reason to berate the fine guy. I like most of what Doug does and I love his two new shows. Just my opinion..........

I have never liked Doug. I found him to be arrogant and confrontational. Whatever the homeowners asked him NOT to do . . was exactly what he DID do. As a result there were many unhappy & crying homeowners. I thought the idea of the show was to create a new space the homeowners would like and be comfortable living in.
Now I've seen Doug in "MOVING UP" I think this is much suited to Doug. In this show he isn't in control and can't be arrogant, damage homes and
leave homeowners crying and upset.
In this show he's simply a host, uses his great sense of humor . . more nicely in this show and
gives the show that kick that Paige has in the other show.
I've found that 'MOVING UP' has become my favorite show.
PROBLEM: I'm finding it difficult to utilize the ideas I see on the show. Where can I find the details of the remodeling done that I like ?
Such as paint color, names of design styles, etc
I would like be able to actually email the owners of homes whose styles I like for further information. Any ideas or information?
Thanks
