I remember back in two-thousand-two,
My interest in a cable show grew and grew.
I had to watch it every day,
Though I worked, I’d find a way.
This show I watched was a rising star,
So I figured out how to program my VCR.
Day in, day out, I watched my show,
Each homeowner’s reaction – I had to know!
Finally, I thought, I am surely addicted,
Hey! There must be others so afflicted!
A web community there surely must be,
So I opened my browser and typed in T-L-C.
I found a bulletin board that was hard to read
Though it was confusing, it met my need.
Fans like me met in this place,
And shared our addiction in cyberspace.
Suddenly the board - it changed,
Topics and threads all rearranged!
Our conversations did not stop
As we all got used to Infopop.
As more and more fans crowded this board,
Sometimes I laughed, sometimes I roared!
It was TS that had brought me HERE, I know
But my addiction to HERE had exceeded the show!
New friendships were formed as we laughed and cried,
Meeting new people from far and wide.
Though only through words and without seeing faces,
A new family was born from this Trading Spaces.
Eventually we were seen as out of control,
Swiffering off-topic posts became Mod Ivy’s role.
Feeling so censored and somewhat deprived,
We just wanted to keep our new friendships alive!
So we scattered and found new places to post,
Off-topic places that were willing to host
Crazy but fun groups of ex-TS fans
Who stuck by each other and created new clans.
But no matter where all of us gather today,
Seems we all come back here where we started to play,
And though TSBB seems dead now, you bet,
We can’t help but revisit this place where we met.
