Stop pulling this $150,000 out of your a$$. You think for the fan bike he could write the bill of sale to be $10,000 or something. He could write it off as advertising ect... But no way they would do something like that because it might imply the bikes are not worth $150,000. Right. Oh and the lame argument that a theme bike cannot be ridden needs to end now. Show of hands who heard Senior Say that their bikes are not just for show they have to be able to ride them. Are you the ultimate Fangirl or what?
I recall senior saying that, but the customs they build don't always have much of a gas tank. The practical features put on FANtasy Bike #1 made it a better bike.
Not to mention, a lot of the things that generally are missing from a theme bike (tail lights, signals, etc) were put on Jeff's bike. That as well made it more practical. I'm not saying every theme bike is worth $150,000. But it seem to me that's a round figure when talking about the bikes we see built on the show. I'm not saying that every theme bike isn't ridable either. But some of those bike are show bikes and not meant to be ridden. In my opinion, Jeff wanted a bike that he could ride, and that's what he got.
Never thought of it that way. They did do "extra" work on it(taillights,etc.). You are right about the theme bikes. Nost of them probably go on display or are auctioned off. Go point, bikerhart.
So by adding some lights, that makes it worth less to you people? Most customs get away from having signals due to the fact of hand signals, brake/tail light and headlights are required though. As for the fact of being made to ride, every bike should be made with that in mind, just because it doesn't have a giant tank doesn't mean squat, look at bar hoppers.. or even a stock Sporty Peanut Tank. If your so worried about the size of your gas tank, and lights to ride it, buy a gold wing.
Personally I found the Fantasy bike episode very enjoyable. It's the only episode I've watched without leaving the room this season. The whole corporate bike thing has gotten so stale. I'd turn it on then do stuff around the house. Wash dishes, fold clothes. I'd only half pay attention. The fantasy bike was the freshest idea they've had for awhile. It kept me in my seat for the entire hour.
Ok granted. The first fantasy bike isn't up to the standards of the Fire Bike or MIA. But, it was still a lot better than the stock bike you'd pick up at your local Yamaha or Honda dealer.
I Can't imagine why he wanted a Rigid frame. It certainly won't be a daily rider. Unless he wants to start wearing a back brace. But, that's what he wanted and that's what he got.
Do you watch the show at all? Have you seen every episode? Heck have you seen even a handful? Because if you did you would know how many times Senior has said the bikes are not just for show they are meant to be ridden. And STOP trying to say what Jeff wanted. I HEARD what he wanted and everyone who watched the show. He was quite CLEAR about it and what he got is NOT what he speced out. Does this have anything to do with the bike being rideable or him being happy for getting a free bike NO! Do you think for a minute that if he complained they would still give him the bike? How naive are you people? OCC even made multiple points assuring the TV that he will like the bike or they will take it. Who does this? How do they know he will like it? They have no idea. Do you ever hear them talk like this about the bikes where the client is dishing out money? No way, they are sweating hoping the client will be happy. This was a case of them making a stock bike and painting to in the theme he wanted and telling him on national TV he better like it.
I am really begining to believe that many people here are incredibly naive if they believe for a minute OCC is not making a KILLING on their theme bikes. And I mean a KILLING.
And PLEASE stop with the EXCUSES. An OCC member has come on here and given exactly ONE excuse, time.

I keep reading that Jeff couldn't afford the taxes on a $150,000 dollar bike as an excuse. Maybe he could, maybe he couldn't, but the point is moot for 2 reasons:
1) It would have cost MAX $1000 (I am being really generous here) for the triple trees. 2) The "price" (taxable value of the prize) of the bike would be set by Paul Sr. He can sell his bikes for whatever he wants including a loss (and yes I know the IRS wouldn't let him sell it for a dollar or something stupid like that, but there is a LOT of room for play there).
And if they had put the triple trees on the bike Paul Sr. wouldn't have made me (as a viewer and fan btw) feel like I was being just as used as I felt Jeff was.
No one is arguing Jeff was not happy when he got his bike!!! Jeff also did not have the advantage of watching OCC build the bike or enjoy the camera angles the viewer did. I bet if you ask Jeff today he would say he loves his bike and it was an honor to meet the OCC guys. That is the type of guy he appeared to be. Which is why the whole show aggravated me even more.

Do it right or don't do it at all.[/quote]
That's the whole point generalares. They promote this contest like the Second Coming of The Lord, keep people wondering for months, swear winners to secrecy, and then Sr. grumbles about running his business and assembles a kit bike (with a super paint job) in two weeks. Paulie would have done a lot better job if left alone. Sr. looked really bad and showed his true feelings for the fans who made him what he is today.
I admit that to some people the show might have made Sr look bad,but truly he is a good guy and he cares about people. I know some of you will disagree, but I have met and talked with him and you are way off base on this one.
I used to think Sr. was a good guy and really root for him, but the Fan Bike One show displayed a pretty ugly side of him that can't be excused as bad editing. Remember when Randy Johnson first joined the Yankees last spring and pushed a camera man around? Same principle; good guy or not, it looked bad.
But it's still editing just the same. When Mikey was showing Jeff the shop and they entered the main area of where the do the bike building, Mikey said "Here's the biggest jerk in the shop." (or something to that effect) and then proceeded to say "Rick, this is Jeff." Does that mean Rick is the biggest jerk in the shop, or is it editing?
Yes Phoenix.....there is a big difference in Sr.'s attitude between 1 and 2. He was ugly with Jeff. I think he made the right decision and pulled his head out. I'd give just about anything to know what goes on behind the scenes.
That comment certainly is uncalled for grizman. You know nothing about Jeff or his military career and here, for everyone to see, you are comparing him to a character on a TV comedy show. That's pretty poor.
One wonders if there are a couple of attornies on this board in the legalistic comments that are being made. You are picking apart Sr. and just about every aspect of the first build and you KNOW that the show is edited.
If the response to this give-away had been good, they might have repeated it. However, with all of the whinning and character assination going on, I rather doubt that they will EVER do this again.
And yes, Sr. can get overbearing but then that is part of the drama of this show. And yes, I tend to be on Paulie's side but it really wouldn't be a show without both of them.
The dictionary describes a fan as a enthusiastic follower or admirer. While people on this fan site can speak about the things we like and dislike about the show, the overall aspect of a fan is that we are an admirer of the show. Telling people how bad the show is does not come under the description of a fan.
