In a few weeks we're going to be shooting some special video for Deadliest Catch fans -- insider info on Dutch Harbor presented by the captains themselves.

What do YOU want them to show you about their home away from home?

Tell us, and we'll see what we can do.

Thanks,

Kristen

I would like to see more details on the support operations, like the varrious different companies that are used when one the fishing boats needs repairs. We have only touched on this.

I would like to see where the guys hang out when off the boats. Also, just different areas around town and even some interviews with the locals about life there and how DC has affected them.

I want bloopers and lots of extra footage. They have so many hours on each boat so how about a DVD for each boat.

I agree with Scottie_k's post plus

I would love to see tours of the boats, some bloopers/out takes, and maybe a tour of the harbor.

Would also love to see behind the scenes stuff, how you rig the cameras on the baost, as well as background information on the history of the industry, how technology has improved the efficiency of the fleet etc.

Oooh,

Bloopers would be awesome! (thanks Scottie_k).
As well as more of the Captains and crew just playing around! I'd pay money for that. (hint, hint, Discovery - another DVD you could sell!!)

I would also like to see like an aerial of Dutch - understand the logistics of where the boats dock compared to the places the guys hang out.

Tours of the boats (the Time Bandit in particular) would be fantastic!

like to see the Dutch Harbor support businesses and how they look foward to the influx of boats and crews getting ready for the seasons.machine shops, bait suppliers, resturants, rope suppliers,a walking tour of all the boats not just the 6 that we see each season....the DH PEOPLE would be cool to see and meet.

First let me say the Blooper idea is great!
Rather amazed that it hasn't already been done here. This kind of life isn't an easy one and some i'm sure are here only for a few catches and back to their lives elsewhere. Its
those people i'd like to learn about,ie: what brought them here to do such a dangerous job.

I have a great idea for the show...How about letting 2 US Army Soldiers take on the challenge and be on a boat for a season. We both have been to Iraq, both have been in "hot" combat zones, and both could do the job with ease. We could take a few weeks of leave and do it anytime.

i would like to see how the guys live normal lives when they are not on the boats, like what their families look like and their kids look like and what their families and kids think of their dad being out fishing, and i would like to know what the guys heros are, and what their hobbies are, are there any big computer geeks onboard or any huge gamers onboard, as being a woman most think i am strange for watching this show but guys i love the show your the best, and i truly think you have the toughest job anywhere in the world. keep up the good work, wish i could personally afford to keep some of that crap but i cant being a single mother, and my kids they are 7 and 8yrs old truly love the show too, you keep me on the edge of my seat every show. not only worrying about you guys, but also with the way you guys joke around or the way yous sometimes argue you keep me wondering what is going to happen next, wow your show is amazing, i have been watching it since day 1, i am addicted to this show.

I would like to see a camera put on a pot underwater to be able to watch how the crab march across the sea floor and actually film crab filling a pot. Where do the crab live before and after crab season? Why are they where they are -when they are? Why are the crab usually divided into groups of catch able mature males and groups of female and young? Would like a bit of an education about the catch before it is the catch.

I would like to see someone such as myself, female, married, mother of three, 37yrs old and fished during my childhood, allowed as a guest to cook for the guys. Then interviewed with their perspective of the daring lives these men lead. I would also like to see a very small snip it of what the families at home feel with their loved ones risking it all for them.

Sincerely,

Oh one more thing, the blooper's is a fantastic idea. I do remember that there was a little bit of antics by the captains, that was hysterical. I do realize that they don't have a great deal of time to do that nor the added expense, but it is fun to see them laugh and enjoy their jobs. More of the captains on the deck is encouraged also.

Best of luck and may the sea bring them all home safely.

I want to learn more of exactly where the fishing goes on as on a map and how global warming has affected them. I also want to see the Aurora Borealis as it is now in 2008.

I have been to dutch harbor and I think that you should show how scary the plane ride into dutch is. I would also like to see more of lattitudes. (the bar that used to be the elbow room) Also I would like to see the guys after they have had a few drinks!!!!

As the mother of a Bering sea fisherman (this is his second year and he is only 19), I am constantly afraid to answer the phone and hear that my son has been lost at sea..both terror and joy runs through my body every time I see the 907 area code of Alaska..but he loves the job..he calls his boat home..yes, it is dangerous..but that is what most of these people can't stand not doing it..I both love and hate the show..I can somehow feel close to my son as I watch others fighting to bring home the catch..but also, as a mother, hate to see such things as the sinking of a boat, or the cold that I know he is facing..it brings it home to me..thank you for this..I know that he also told me that he is going to be on one of your "podcasts" as you filmed him recently waiting to get on a plane to Dutch, and stuck for days in Anchorage..
