I have rosacea and let me tell you it is no fun. I hate having this stuff. I am currently not going to a dermitologist and I can't wait until I can get into one. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep this down and looking okay? In advance thank you for your advice. Confused

Before you get to a dermatologist, you can improve your skin dramatically with a holistic approach. Number one, start taking "primrose oil". It looks like a vitamin e geltab. Be sure you get a good brand. Safeway Select didn't work for me at all. I use Metagenics brand that I get from my chiropractor, but Trader Joes brand works well for me when I run out.

Also taking alfalfa will help. These pills are usually quite large so good luck with them.

Taking fish oil helped me even more. With these supplements, I don't get cyst type zits anymore. After eating spicy food, I pop a primrose oil, and redness goes away. It's incredible.

Don't let the stupid doctors fill you up with antibiotcs like tetracyclene. These are powerful medications that aren't necessary. You don't kill a bug with a bazooka!

Hi - I hope you have been able to see a dermatologist about your rosacea. A prescription cream called Noritate (1% strength) has done wonderful things for my rosacea symptoms. My skin has lost its overly-red look and the "adult acne" has disappeared, basically. It only comes back when I miss an application (I use Noritate nightly after cleansing my face with a waterfree cleanser such as Cetaphil -- you can find much less expensive alternatives at WalMart or drug stores that have house brands of that product, such as RiteAid or CVS.) I do get "red in the face" when I exercise or am exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures, but I no longer break out in red blotches when I get upset or am under great stress.

I have found out rosacea runs on both sides of my family (a cousin on one side has it; my grandfather on the other side had it and developed a bumpy nose as a result -- I expect he just ignored it), so I understand why I have acquired it -- but not until my late 40's (I'm 52 now; my cousin who has it is just 40 now.)

I had my skin checked at a Employees' Health Fair (I work for a large city government) after my diagnosis and got the result that my skin was terrific (!). Noritate does work -- and is not irritating, at least to my somewhat sensitive skin.

Good luck to you on relieving your rosacea symptoms.

I just recently found a miracle product for making the redness of rosacea invisible. There are some make-up products made by Physicians Formula that have a green tint which takes away the redness. Physicians Formula has several products with the green tint, like concealers, moisturizers and other stuff. You can review these products at http://www.physiciansformula.com/product_catalog/category.asp?categorid=110&scene=facemakeup . There's a store locator as well to find where to purchase. If you have an Eckerd or CVS drugstore nearby, they would surely have it.
I purchased the "Beauty Spiral Perfecting Concealer" in Lime and it has worked miracles for me!! I put on the concealer and then use a powder foundation over it and you can't even tell that underneath it all is lots of redness. This is a cheap way to help control my Rosacea. I also use a prescription creme called Noritate that helps, but not nearly as much as the green tinted concealers. Good luck! Smile
