My name is Carlos Garduno and I am from Albuquerque NM. I am also the Airport Engineer for the Santa Fe Municipal Airport in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Santa Fe Airport has a big prarrie dog problem around the entire airfield. Because these prarrie dogs are digging thousands of holes around runways, it has caused a big safety problem for airplanes that may have to leave the runway in an emergency situation. Airplane wheels can get caught and sink cause the airplane to crash rather the just role on the dirt. So needless to say the prarrie dogs have to go. But because of animal rights activists, i.e. PETA, none of the prarrie dogs can be killed or harmed in anyway when trying to get rid on them. So the airport has hired a "Prarrie Dog Wrangler". I recently was able to observe this guy in action and was very impressed. What he does is track the family of prarrie dogs and gets a feel for the network of tunnels they have dug and tries to corner them. Once he gets them cornered in a hole, he will flood the hole with soapy water and stick his hand down in the hole at the same time and wait for the prarrie dog to run from the water to the exit and then grab it. He then puts them in a cage to be transported to a different location. I think the would make a good "Dirty Job" for Mike Rowe. Hope to hear form you soon.
