I proposed to my boss giving Dirty Jobs an invite to come to Mid Valley South, LLC in Mooresville, NC and was greeted with enthusiasm. Mid Valley South, LLC (website soon to be up…not up there right now) provides racing transmissions to the NASCAR racing teams and has been doing so for over 20 years. Depending on the driver and road conditions we get some “dirty” transmissions and gearboxes back. The boxes have to be checked out and re-build after each use, which is a job in itself. Also, we have a machine shop and make our own parts…an interesting process in itself. There are many other interesting shop jobs etc…that could be featured and “learned.”
If Dirty Jobs is interested in the opportunity we might be able to get a race team involved to give an opportunity to see the “pit” crew and be part of a pit crew at work with one of the race teams we work with.
Let me know if this is something interesting for the show. We could probably organize everything to run through in Spring when the races are in full swing, and when there is one locally at the Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC.
