Hey, I work in New Braunfels,Tx. Along with Schilitterbahn we also have 2 historic rivers that also keep the tourist coming during the spring and summer months. For the past 3 years I along with 3 other men have taken the responsiblity of maintain ing the rivers. The comal is the shortest and therefore is always the busiest. We have 2 14' trash boats stationed along the 2.2 mile long river; the shortest in the world. Then the guadalupe which starts from canyon lake downward. Our crew of 4 maintains 4 trash boats and up to 5 parks along the rivers. During any weekend we pull about 50 bags of trash off each river. The smell in the trash boats is one that is indescribable.I dont really complain about my job because the pay is great and I enjoy helping out the environment. I figure it would be nice to have some recognition. Our team is funded for 6 workers but we could only fill 4. Out of a town of over 40,000 people only 4 stepped up to the plate and have an interest in their rivers. I think that cleaning the rivers is one of the dirtiest jobs I have ever seen. Just thought I would let ya'll know.
