I am an historical archaeologist finishing my Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Reno. A number of years ago some undergraduates and I excavated a frozen privy in Alaska that was full of newspapers that had been used for toilet paper by soldiers at a remote telegraph station. Being frozen, the papers, and some of the poop, were well preserved. For over a year volunteers and I picked through 28 pounds of paper with dental picks and tweezers to identify the date ranges and locations of the papers in the privy. No one else has done this before, its slow and kind of gross. Its also been interesting to get volunteers excited about picking through used toilet paper and the occasional pubic hair. I have 1 bag left on the shelf...How about it?
