Raising Crickets doesn't sound that dirty? Wait till you get a load of the process. First they mate the crikets, which is an odd act in and of itself. Then the smaller crickets arrive several days later from dirt, yea dirt. They are transported to a room that is kept at 98 to 104 Degrees F. And a warning to mike rowe if he visits, these rooms are rancid, and you will probably stink for days. You have old water bowls baking in a room that have criket remains / excrement, that are inside long rectangular boxes stacked four high. You usually spill some pure stink essence on you in the process of getting the boxes down. The whole time you work you are also killing crickets in the process of transporting them, so by the end of the day, you have dead crickets on you, and live ones crawling on top of that, along with possible black widows, but more often wolf spiders. Plus the occasional roach, and rats that look like they are on some performance enhancing products. On a good weekend you can clean out, Which involves vacuming the beetles, roaches, and spiders, out of the cricket mix. there are so many crickets you can put your hand above them and feel the body heat radiate from all the crickets. This is a complete dare Mike Rowe. The place is called timberline, and is located in marion Illinois.
