I am the electronics technician at Southern PolyTechnic State University in Marritta, GA. The two jobs below are what we do to the robots donated to us. If WoodBridge (spoken about in my previous suggestion) won't let you film inside their factory, then we can do some jobs at my university's Mechatronics Lab.
>>Robot Cleaning: They arrive with THICK, HARD layers of foam overspray on them. We could have Mike take a scraper to it.... and believe me, it's hard, dirty work. And, let's not forget that the large cables and stuff get encrusted with that stuff, and I think Mike would LOVE to scrape off 25 foot long cables :-)
>>Then, after cleaning, the periodic servicing needs to be done. You drain several gallons of messy, lubricant from the gear boxes, and replace it. Its impossible to do it neat and clean. It was such a mess last time, that I just gave up and let it drain right onto the floor. It was easier to clean the lube off the floor.
I should note that we have TWO of these robots, but ONE is complete, painted and in operation, and the other has not been touched. So, we could show the robots BEFORE AND AFTER the clean up.
>>Bonus>> How about we show Mike how to run a industrial robot? He could teach it to pick up a dirty jobs sign or something. They are VERY fast, and dangerous in the wrong hands, but I am sure we could get some comedy out of him trying to use it :-)
PS. If desired, I am sure we could pick another messy job or two in my department, or elsewhere on the campus.
