After graduating college in Arkansas I started working in management for a major poultry producer. I now own a farm with chicken houses and some cattle. Some people might think that these jobs are dirty. But when I was working at the poultry plant there was a rendering plant a few miles away that made the processing plant seem like a clean environment. A rendering plant is where all the guts and feathers from processing plants go. This includes chicken plants, turkey plants, hog processing plants. Also alot of the dead animals from the farms also are transported there to be processed. At the rendering plant they cook all of the animals and parts of animals. This process turns all of the solid waste into a liquid form that is safe to use in animal feeds. It is a high strength protein that helps the animals grow faster. I have heard stories that the walls and floors move because of all the maggots. Also by talking to people that have worked there they say that after they quit working there it took a month to get the smell out of their skin. I think this would have to be a dirtier work environment than what I have ever seen on the show or even heard of.
