The idea struck me when I was turn marshaling during the gas finals race at my local radio controlled car race track. That day I ended up coming home with that hard spot that forms on you fingers when burned and a nasty taste in my mouth from nitro exhaust.
Around April each year, the local race addicts gather around the hobby shop and concoct that year's off-road radio controlled car race track. Involves a lot of digging, shoveling, scraping, tractors...Something that seems to go hand-in-hand with any episode. I found that, actually, more grime shows up when race time comes the next day.
In the more popular race categories, up to 10 cars or trucks are whizzing around this small track. Of course, with local guys driving as though a sponsorship from Coca Cola is on the line, cars end up on there lid, in the wrong lane and even over the retaining barrier sometimes. It's not too difficult to picture Mike playing the role of turn marshal, darting out on the dusty track, flipping cars back over, guarding his ankles from the next cars rounding the corner and getting burned from the hot nitro exhaust. Of course, being the good sport that Mike has had to be to survive this long, I'm sure a few pit repairs would be right up his alley.
At our local track, we do have a beginner's class. I'd say for the finale of the episode I'm envisioning, Mike would naturally be handed a "tuned down" car and try his hand at the track.
Here's a couple links to give a more accurate picture of what Mike would have to look forward to...
