Imagine climbing sometimes 300 feet up a smoke stack, then hauling another 500 lbs of stuff up it. You begin gathering samples from the stack. You are so cold that you hug the smoke stack for heat during the summer or you spend a few hours in a 85 or hotter day while steaming hot smoke sometimes over 1000 degrees. Constant falling debre sticking to you skin. Testing every place from hospitals that burn dead flesh to tire burning factories which give off so much soot you can't even see. All that for low pay and real long hours doesn't seem worth it when you think about it.
