I worked for a company a few years ago called "California coatings and composites"
CC&CWhat we had to do was sand blast components (mainly pump housings, turbines, etc) to give them a profile and prepared to be coated with a protective composite. The composite had to be mixed with 2 parts, a base and then the additive which made the composite harden. The coatings protect the components against acids, abrasions, rust and other things.
Sometimes, I would have to crawl inside of tanker trucks and actually sand blast the inside of them. This is where the job got the dirtiest. We had to wear a supplied air respirator system, which made it very dark, uncomfortable and very dirty. After that, I had to also coat the inside of the tanker, all the while, wallowing around in it.
A lot of times, the company was contracted out and had to work on site. Sometimes climbing to heights over 200 feet in the air to sand blast and coat, or climbing into vessels that required you to use a rope ladder to crawl in and out of with equipment in hand.
I hope you consider this job. It really does deserve to be on the list of Dirty Jobs for sure.
