Dear Dirty Jobs, I am a college student at the George Washington University in Washington DC. As an only child, I was shocked by the chaos and mess of dorm rooms throughout the year- vomit, pranks, christmas decorations left up until mid march, and of course, all the bottles. Nothing compares, however, to move out week. During the hellish amount of drinking, singing, crying, screaming, and other such antics, 18 to 20 somethings are expected to pack, clean up, and move out. I found that only two of these things actually occur. I returned to my dorm after a long hiatus to find all my roommates gone. Along with this blessing came a curse. They had been gone for just a few days, but had left everything in the refrigerator, not cleaned out the bathroom, left the now fish empty fish tank sitting with gross algae water, and, most terrifyingly, had piled everything unwanted, food stuffs, spoiled chinese food and pizzas, pieces of paper, old napkins, books, underwear and tampons, in the center of my floor. I was horrified for the people who had to clean up, but there was no way I was gonna touch that! and we couldn't possibly be the worst- to put things in perspective, only half way through the year our neighbors were infested with roaches!!! sincerely, alex murrin
