Mike (& Whomever It May Concern), I'm the director of the technical mountain search and rescue team (AVSAR) that covers one of the most extreme, beautiful, and deadly mountain ranges in the lower 48 (Colorado's Sangre De Cristos). The terrain is extreme. Our team covers 3 of Colorado's nastiest 14er's, and we assist a neighboring team with 4 other brutal summits including an alpine big wall that runs 2000' high for more than a mile between 11,000-14,000' elevation. We also cover Sand Dunes National Park (if you'd prefer something a little less demanding). It's a photojournalist's dreamland. In the winter it regularly drops to -30, in the summer it's windy, stormy, brutal... Just your kind of place. I'm certified as a technical, high-angle rescue instructor by the same Federal Contractor that trains the Park Rangers in Yosemite, Denali, etc. and also the military's spec. forces, so I promise I'll keep you safe while still ensuring an appropriate amount of filthiness. My team and some friends (professional mountain guides) could bring you along for a simulated mountain rescue (lots of scenarios to choose from). We're a bunch of hard-working, fun-loving, no-nonsense guys (and a couple gals), who we think you would just love to hang with for a bit. Take care, and thanks very much for bringing some dignity to us dirties.
