Hey Mike, Barsky and the crew,
I have been wanting to suggest this for the past year. I have been an on again, off again member of the PGI (Pyrotechnics Guild Internatinal) over the past 25 years. Each year in August we have a week-long gathering in one of the contiguous states in the US. We are both professional and amature pyrotechnicians, chemists, and generally fun loving pyros. This year pyros of all backrounds will converg on the beautiful ground of Gillett, Wyoming for a week of insane-off-the-hook fireworks displays and contests. The dates are August 9th-August 15, 2008. This is by far the biggest pyro convention in the United States. The website is
www.pgi.org and the email address is: membership@pgi.org.
I have no idea what the policy is on media attention but if you can get there particularly for the setup of the convention you will find this to be dirty, sweaty, backbreaking, incredibly fun and entertaining. You will see things that very few people have ever experienced. This is an up-close and personal experience like no other.
