No doubt lol. Don't you just hate the way he wants to be like Bear all clean cut and spiffy by taking his smoke baths or eating juniper.

Les does an excellent job at not showing us that his entourage is just behind a small hill, bravo.

Are you confused? We're talking about Les Stroud. The guy that's proven he has skills to endure living off the land without any means not even metal tools.

Yes, Les never uses metal tools. His Multi-tool is made of shiny wood, apparently.

Did I state he "never" uses metal tools? No! I was refering to Les and his wife's trek up into the Boreal region where they lived for a year without any modern utentsils not even a axe! They lived off the land like someone would 500 years ago. Does'nt this prove he has skills as a survivalist.

I don't recall that being mentioned anywhere in this thread. I apologize for not knowing exactly what you were talking about in your vague reference that offered absolutely no explanation on what you were referring too.

No I'm sorry you're not informed on any background or facts about Les Stroud. I did'nt know I had to write a thesis on every post to make you understand my arguement. Another known fact is that Les carries a phone in case of emergencies but has been in areas where the service failed and he was completely on his own.

If you are going to make an argument can you at least make it LOOK good? The "I know it so everyone must know it too" argument isn't good to use, also the "I'm going to assume everyone knows what I'm referring too and not explain myself" discussion isn't a good choice.

Ok time to live up to your own argument. Where are your facts for the statement "Les does an excellent job at not showing us that his entourage is just behind a small hill, bravo."

What entourage? and exactly where are they at all times? Just over the hill... proof???

If you bothered to look into ANY facts at all you would of known what the other post was talking about.

Lindburghbaby- Obviously you want to dance around the facts. I don't claim to know everything and assume others do but how much intelligence does it take to click on "meet Les" on the screen and read a little background. I have given two examples of why your statement is untrue and you have given nothing but petty diversions. It's a put up or shut up time.

you guys are just a bunch of critics. come here to the mountains of Colorado where i live and lets see how well you "survive" for 7 days. very few peaple could handle things like Les.

Really? So If I read every single fact on Les I would know EXACTLY what the poster meant by the following:
The guy that's proven he has skills to endure....
I never offered any evidence to my statement, I just used logic, common sense and minor things like that. All you offered as evidence was "he said so" So if we are just going to argue back and forth about things we have no idea to be true, then lets end it right here, after your retort.

Good night all, I have work tomorrow.

I don't want to start any arguments...I just think that Bear is a better survivalist b/c he shows US how to survive in the wild and Les shows us how HE survives in the wild. Bear goes into the wild with only a flint, a knife, and the clothes on his back. Les on the other hand goes into the wild with a backpack, cell phone and his multi-tool.
I haven't researched any facts on either one of them, I'm just going by what I see on the Discovery Channel. And if Les is really a better survivalist then I think the show should edit the footage better. Smile

Show us how to survive? By jumping into a glacial melt river and floating downstream at a few miles per hour versus staying dry and walking?
By running down steep, rocky hills?
By swimming under obstacles in canyons that you can't see the other side of?
By climing up and down waterfalls?
By scaling sheer cliffs to get a couple dozen calories?

Anyone with any clue about surviving in the 'wild' knows that doing things like that will simply get you injured and killed.

I think you will change your toon if you do look into Man vs Hotel.

You see, the viewing public wants watch someone that has integrity. If actor has such an extensive background on survival training then he shouldn’t do things that emasculate effective survival techniques.

When you have a survival show you MUST maintain your integrity, otherwise viewers will revolt against fraudulence as they do for actor.

I like both MVW and Surviorman. I really don't know why all of you are so critical of these shows. Can't you just watch both shows and get entertained as well as maybe a survival tip or two. I don't think either show needs to be picked apart. Both men work very hard (however, I do think that Les is more authentic as far as true survival goes). So why don't we just watch and learn and quit critisizing.
