I've found my footwear to be incredibly important. Sore feet or bad traction really hamper ones ability to get around. I love my Keen hiking sandles but am looking for a good pair of hiking boots.
What kind does Les wear? What should I look at?

Brent...brand doesn't matter, style doesn't matter...what matters is what fits your feet. The very best thing you can do is go to a good hiking shop and get someone to help you fit your feet. Like REI or EMS, someplace like that.
BUT...since you like your Keen sandles so much, I would suggest starting with their hiking boots!

Good old *BLPCs served me well for 17 years in the military.
I just rerplaced the factory insoles with a 'good' pair od insoles and walked for miles and miles.
*Note: BLPC = Black Leath Personel Carriers, which was the slang ofr the black combat boots.

Also, sportsmansguide is a good source of hiking/camping/survival equipment.
