Visit his home on the Web where Les is definitely more. Les wraps the season by taking on the Australian Outback.
That's the finale, folks. Les is doing other things now.

I have heard that Les was just taking off a season due to health considerations. The story that I heard was that he had contracted some dire disease from some of his survival adventures and was going to need the time to recuperate. True or False??????

But there will be a third season ...

Oh, yeah. In addition, the big new one that I'll be putting a lot of energy into is called Stroud's Legends. And what that show will have me doing is following in the footsteps of all the world's greatest explorers. I'm really looking forward to that, that's gonna be an exciting show to produc...>>>>That sounds like a new show to me cool

I;m greatly releived to hear that you will be back. Yours is a truly unique show, and one of my favorites. I was really dissapointed to hear that it is ending.

Please tell me that Les is coming back. I so look forward to his show. It is refreshing to see a "real" survival expert on TV. It is also nice to have a show on that the whole family can watch and enjoy.

Seeing the "Finale" show advertised, I was worried that Les Stroud's show was getting cancelled. It is one of the best shows in a long time for anyone interested in outdoor life. I appreciate Bear Grylls show, but it is NOT about survival. He does some things that may look cool, but could cause injury and end your survival in the wilderness.

Mr. Stroud's presenation is realistic, interesting and, rare for TV - useful!

I hope "Stroud's Legends" will include Lewis and Clark's trip through present day Idaho. I have never been through there, but fly over it regularly. From what I hear it is still some of the most remote and rugged territory in the lower 48.

Again, thanks for a wonderful show. It has been such fun to watch a show based on REAL reality, and not a manufactured Hollywood producer's ideas of what reality is!

After watching his show where he survives in wherever, he says the show is permanently ending. I am extremely sad b/c I enjoyed the show. What is the name of his next show? I could tell that before the 3rd season, Les and his team were running out of ideas of where to survive. It's hard to find more places to survive then where he has.
I hope his next show is good. Someone please reply and update me on his further shows and health (if the rumor of sickness are true).

Man im so mad that its done man. Les Stroud is the dude you know...along with Bear Grylls. Many people are choosing which is better but to tell you the truth it doesn't make a difference they are both dealing with the same situation so why does that matter.
Anyways Les Stroud if you read these just know that your the dude man, and you always will be.

another season??? really?? Personally, I just watch the show because Les is NOT a survivor-man, so I watch for the irony. The only thing this guy has taught me, is what NOT to do in a life threatening situation. Don't listen to, nor take what he says to heart, you might die. e.g. "fire in the African plains is used to keep lions away, but some say it can actually attract them" - WHAT??!!!! So what are we suppose to do then???!!! Les - you're going to get people killed.

most animals don't like fire... plus fire can be a weapon. would you rather have fire or not? without fire you have no light at night. i don't see what the problem is...

"So what are we suppose to do then???!!! Les - you're going to get people killed."

What you are SUPPOSED to do is follow his overarching advice: assess your situation, make the choices that best fit that situation and understand that even under the best of circumstances (which emergency survival is NOT) you might be making decisions that aren't going to work out as you expect. So be prepared to make changes.

Fire MIGHT keep lions away, esepcially if they have experience of grass fires and have learned to move away from it...but younger lions, in particular, have the curiosity that is a character of most cat species and if they have no experience of fire might be attracted to the sight of a fire out of curiosity.

Attracting the attention, provoking the curiosity, of a cat that weighs upwards of 400 or 500 pounds could certainly be detrimental to your survival. So, as Les DID, have an escape plan worked out...JUST IN CASE.

If you never get past "what are we supposed to do" then your dithering COULD hasten your death.

And *I* learned that just from watching that one episode of Survivorman.

Could someone who has the factual information please email me and let me know if Les is done with the show alltogether or just taking a break. A friend of mine says he has completely retired. I say he hasn't.

Swazdude -- Les *is* retired according to him.

So unless he changes his mind, then he's finished.

He's not *that* old so I can see him maybe doing one more season, but not any time soon.

I heard that one of the reasons why he quit the show was because his wife wanted him to spend more time with his family.

He's currently doing something on Cartoon Network.

I would imagine we will see him again given that he's still pretty young and seems to be on his feet a lot -- I think we'll see him again.

But for now he's retired. Give him some time, I'm sure we'll hear from here again in some capacity.

Yeah, it's sad to hear it's over but he is still doing some other shows. He was way better then "MAN VS WILD" it was more realistic. Also showing better methods of what should be done in certain situations, methods that won't kill you.

No he won't. The last original episodes aired months ago. Everything that is showing now on various Discovery networks is a repeat.

hes a whiner not a survivor.

He has survived pretty well. He is still alive.

Staying alive is what survival is all about. It doesn't matter how much you eat or drink or complain as long as the end result is you are alive.

Hello! I am writing to request, there should be a contest to go on an adventure with the survivor man!!!! My husband loves this show, he watches all the repeats. I am pretty sure people would definately watch if there were regular people with him, even if it were for just three days. Please Les! Do a contest to go on an adventure with you!!!!!!!!!

This guy is a complete joke. I have seen casual campers rough it more than this guy. C'mon, give the average person a tent, a back pack , hicking boots and warm parka, the average weekend camper could do the same thing. This guy is a camper not a survivor. More like Clark Griswald's adventures in the woods.

So, don't watch it, if you don't like it.

Its a pretty simple concept.

Unfortunately, Les has retired from Survivorman and there will be no new episodes.

He retired due to the toll the filming of the show was taking on his body and his personal life.

what a rediculous statement,,,the whole purpose for having a forum is to express opinion. A reply of "then don't watch the show" is shallow. Of course I'm not watching the show, I would think from my comments that I would not waste my time with watching a Clark Griswald backpacking adventure is very clear. The whole purpose of a forum is to give our opinion, I'm glad you like it and if it meets your survival curiousity and requiremnents then keep watching it, I'm just stating the reasons why I wouldn't waste any more time with it. Real survivors don't have modern conveniences offered here with top of the line boots, camping gear, warm jackets, hunting gear..Just pointing out what many others have thought that this is a joke of a show but have a ball watching it if you are in to that type of thing.

Really? So no one has ever been in a survival situation while wearing top of the line gear?

I'll make a note of that and go buy myself some top of the line gear as it evidently prevents you from getting getting yourself in a bad situation.

Wow, you never know what you're getting for your money! Roll Eyes

seems like everyone that criticizes survivorman, never seem to catch the first 10 minutes where les states the hypothetical survival situation.. guess everyone these days goes camping in their wife-beaters and sandals. usually, when people go camping or hiking they tend to wear hiking boots and jackets. it's generally a good idea to bring something warmer with you if you know you're spending the night, it could get chilly. it's not les' fault if people leave their common sense at the door of their homes before they go on vacation or leave the house for a weekend. to not bring camping gear, warmer clothes, or any other beneficial thing with you makes me wonder?

Again, at least he's honest, hilarius and he wasn't doing a tourist guide. In fact the only places I wanted to go after watching were maybe Hawaii and the Caribbean. Maybe he secretly works for their tourism depts.

Hello every one. First off I think Les has a creative soul and I enjoyed watching his show's very much.
I wonder if any one can tell what his favorite camera equipment was. What kind of camcorder's did he use? I know it was four or five in number.
My plan B for http://www.expeditionhighway.webs.com may require ths information. Can you help me find out. or do you know? Les may the sun shine on every thing you do in life. Thank you for the show and the entetainment. Please stay creative.

Has Les ever considered passing the baton to another survivalist? He may not be into it but I'm sure there are qualified young guys (with charisma) that might be interested in the show. He could interview and introduce a new guy - not to mention make a ton of money off of production and directing.

Regardless, the fans want it. Don't shut this thing down, Les. If I have to watch Bear jump down another "Glass-ee-r" into another "Krevass" I'm going to kill myself.
