I never wanted a tatt, but after my third and last c section, I was thinking of getting one on my scar. Can you go over a scar? My previous scars were small, but the last one is very big and bulky. The skin there is numb. If I di dgo over it, would it just open it up more and make a mess? I was thinking of making the line of the scar the stem to a lilac branch because i love lilacs and having the purple flowers all around it.. I have no experience, so what do you say?

It's tough to tattoo on scar tissue because of it's texture however no artist could say yes or no either way without being able to see it. I would recommend you stop in to a local shop and ask an experienced artist what they think. They will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

You should also talk to your doctor first. When I had my portacath removed and it left a scar like you described (they're called Keloid scars, btw), the surgeon told me no tattoos/no piercings on/through the scar for at least a year. By that point the scar had flattened a great deal and I didn't feel the need to cover it. I will some day but I'm waiting for the right time and right design.
