It's not just our Animal Cops Detroit which has been dumped by Animal Planet. According to the New York Post, Animal Planet has stopped filming the Animal Precinct series from New York as well.
Maybe this is like any other business..... newer people are cheaper to pay than the old timers?? Just a thought! ;-)
See, if you haven't already, the animal precinct discussion board and thread "the show is cancelled!!" a rather long melange of excuses for the cancellation from both the ASPCA and Discovery is collected in an article there.
it's hard to believe excuses, altho clearly the ASPCA and Discovery managment didn't bother to particularly collaborate on an agreed-upon story, but i'm inclined to believe the ASPCA.
they didn't come up with one about being able to read some Discovery handwriting on the wall that might have been indicating that the animal cops series in general were being gradually phased out and wanting to get out first, but i expect that might be the case.
and the ASPCA is awfully busy, expanding its efforts more and more into the USA, and may have just felt they'd made their point with Animal Precinct. how many abused dog etc. stories need to be filmed, after all, before the viewers get it?
Hey karen, I didn't know that both shows had been cancelled. I agree there's only so much bad stuff they can film about animals, before it becomes too much. But I will miss it also.
