Although I am starting to understand what all of you guys see in Mike Dowe (it hit me during one of the retrospectives, when, at the animal hospital, Mike was staying with a stray that had never been socialized and was freezing and terrified <at least I think it was that one> and he says something to the effect of "With these little scared ones you just gotta hold them real real tight sometimes, and kinda caress 'em a little bit, make 'em feel safe" and I was just bowled over at the tenderness involved, and just wanted to crawl onto his lap right then and there!), but my heart firmly belongs to Shawn Hairston. He is a beautiful man who is a little rough arouond the edges, so so funny, and so careful and sweet with the animals, even when he's messing around with them. Did you guys know he's a single dad?? He's a little older than Mike, and maybe not as classically good looking, but he has such a strong presence and such pride that you can't help but wanna marry that boy... Any thoughts??

Hahahaha! I think you made a very good choice. I love them both but not in a being in love way. I just think they are so totally cool. Shawn showed his true heart in this episode you mentioned. But just the way the two guys are acting. That's why I love Detroit so much.
If you are going to marry Shawn, invite me on your wedding!!

Oh I know, the way they interact together is so sweet and funny, and the things they say to the dogs, it's like they treat the dogs as grown-up people almost... for example, one dog they found tied up and starving in a backyard was running all around and howling when Shaun put him on the leash, and Shaun like, got down on the dog's level and goes "Come on man, get yourself together, stop playin'" and gives him a couple rough pats on the side. Sure enough, the dog got up and pranced on behind him right to the van. I just love how tender he is without being sugary or insincere. I would so love to meet him... yeah, you can come to the wedding
