Congratulations to natcusack and tinnerman! Viewers Choice winner for "Dirty Mike Color Illustration" is tinnerman. Mike's Choice winner for "Faces of Mike" is natcusack. Both will be receiving signed t-shirts. The remaining 18 finalists will be also be receiving t-shirts (sorry unsigned). Posted by Discovery: For the rest of you, know that we actually included pictures by just about every one of you who posted a portrait by Dec. 18, 2007. These modern online calendar-makers are crazy cool, and we were able to create collages of pictures for each month. And we not only made a calendar for Mike, we made one for Barsky and Mike's mom as well. (Because what mom wouldn't want a calendar of her son made by her son's fans?) See The Winning Artwork, All The Submissions and Read More About Mike's Fan Art!Congratulations to the winners and to all who submitted their art! DJModChickie

My congrats, also, to natcusack and tinnerman!
How cool to think your artwork will be admired and appreciated by not only Mike, but Mike's mom as well!
And to all the other finalists, you are all quite talented. I only wish I had your abilities as artists. Mike's fans (ummm, make that "friends"!) are a special group of people.

Liz,
Thanks for the compliment. I was honored to be a finalist and to have my fabric mosaic quilt included in the view-and-vote.

WWOW!!
Congratulations dear Natasha and Ryan!
I'm so delighted and happy for both of you. Knew it when I saw your art, that it was indeed a master piece of Mike. Really, good news!
And to all the other artists "Thanks for the great view/sketch".
Wishing each and everyone of you (and yours) a truly Blessed Christmas! All the best for the coming New Year 2008 and then looking forward to the next 2008 sketch of Mike.
Jenny
PS (Dear Natasha, I see you wearing that signed T-shirt every single day as you sit and paint/sketch/chisel. Take good care of self and those little ones.)

Quick question. Will fans be able to purchase or get our hands on this calendar that is being made? Just thought I would ask, would be nice to have one, but if that is not possible no big deal. Thanks for your time. Take care everyone!!! ~Ryan

Hello Ryan,
This year calendars will not be offered for sale. The only ones created were for Mike, his Mom and Dave.
Again congratulations & thank you for taking part in the contest!

I thought that the purpose was to have a truly nice dirty calendar 2008 up on our walls too. TO say not available to us fans is a shame. What of all those artists who sketched, stiched and chiselled for days in hope for a dirty calender 2008. Do them proud too!
DC heads please be a Santa and offer it to us too. Thats the only calendar I will buy at the DC shop. I never had a DJs calendar with Mike, but would like one NOW!
THanks! Awaiting for a Santa. Jenny

Some really talented members and great art work.
I understand the whole "profit off the members artwork" thing, but maybe the calender could be sold on-line with all money sent to a charity also selected by the majority?

FYI - On December 21st, during my exchange of e-mails with Kristen at Discovery (Director, New Media Development), she stated that the calendar will not be available for anyone to purchase. The contest was a last-minute idea of hers and not an "official" project.
I thought the contest would have been an ideal project to bring board members closer together after so many recent ups and downs on the board during the past few months. As my friend said to me, it would have been nice to purchase the fan art calendar and donate the money to a pig rescue group.

um, I'm sorry to have to do this but, I have to disagree with the judging.
The two winners don't respresent a huge amount of talent to me.
They are photographs, traced, line for line.
The tinnerman one almost looks like digital conversion, like the movie "a scanner darkly" with keanu reeves, where they take a photograph and just use software to render it into a color sketch.

Congratulations-nice works!!
Enjoyed viewing them all and I suppose everyone's choices are subjective. Quite alot of talent there.
Looking forward to seeing more.

This is for Member: I_am_so_awesome and to who ever agrees with this persons comment,
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and respect that but I am not going to read your comment and not defend myself. 1) My talent is well liked and well respected by many of people. I went to a great art college Columbus College of Art and Design. I majored there in illustration and graphic design. I have been a professional graphic designer and illustrator for over 12 years. I now work as lead illustrator and am a graphic designer for my day job. I have been drawing for all my life. I do freelance work for TAPS Paramagazine and for the TAPS crew (Sci-Fi's Ghost Hunters). I have illustrated a children's book and hopefully be working on number 2 in the very near future. I have drawn up a tatoo for TAPS founder Jason Hawes and have done numerous freelance jobs from portraits to cartoons trust me I could go on. Check out my myspace sometime and check out my work. I even paint, water color, color pencil as well believe it or not. 2) My work is drawn by hand like it or not line by line. I draw from a photo by pencil or ink. I then scan in the drawing into the computer and then convert the picutre to paths. This allows me to then drop in color into my drawing. You should really do some more research on the peices of work before taking the time to bash someones work. I would not take any credit at all if it was just a picture photoshoped on computer. I would not turn it in at all. I also have 4 other line drawings I did for Mike Rowe calendar contest, why don't you check them out you might actually like them. Sorry to seem short but it offends me with comments like yours. I spent some time of these peices of art and so far is well liked by many same goes with Natasha's work which is amazing. Lastly if there are more people that do not think Natasha and myself deserved this then I really am sorry. Believe it or not we are artists and I like to think damn good ones. I do this for a living. I would never take credit or turn something in that was not drawn by my hand. So this being said I am sorry that there are people out there that think we do not have much talent, that is just like a slap in my face and had to respond.

Congratulations to the winners. Just wish I would have known about the contest so I could have submitted my picture I posted lastnight.
Even though Tinn-Man's picture was a relatively simple effect to do for seasoned PS users it still looks nice and that's all that really matters. I personally love that effect and have applied it to many photos myself. I'm sure Mike appreciates all submissions no matter how much effort went into them.

Gaiuja,
Fan art submissions that are posted now are still eligible to be highlighted in the Fan Art Puzzle area. Puzzles are created out of members artwork and spotlighted for a week.
Thanks to all who share their artwork!
