Is an older horse better for a inexperienced rider then a younger one?
Because, I have my eye on this 15 year old TB x Arabian cross gelding for sale where I live. He's trained in western pleasure, jumping, and english pleasure.
Now I have ridden horse only a few times in my life, but have fallen abosolutly in love with them. I've never had a horse of my own nor do we live on a farm, but we could possibly board him.
If you are inex., I would go with the older horse, as they are typically more calm and more 'broken'. But by looking at this horse's pedigree, I see that there are two kinds of rather 'hot' horses in the main ped. Both arabs and thoroughbreds are kinda hot in general (this isn't a rule though...) but it really all depends on the horse. But in general, older horses are usually more patient, forgiving, and better for beginners.
You're welcome Okeey... Hmmmm... lol I really wish that they had a picture of the horse on here, but the information that they give is promising, although you can never really tell until you ride the horse lol The only thing that they didn't mention was if the horse was good for beginning riders... What I would probably do would be to call the owner and see if you could go over some time to see/ride the gelding Thanks, and best of luck
I am inexperienced also and bought a 20 yr old, TB gelding off the internet. He is a sweetheart but so big that he intimidates me. I wish I would have bought something smaller like a Paso Fino.
