Just a question. I'm only a hobby rider now that my horse is 22. Even at 22 she can be a handfull. I recently rode her with a ported bit(western) and it made a huge difference. I was thinking about buying a Low port kimberwick since i ride english and it should have the same function. I also don't want to spend a lot of money.
Anyone have any feedback on Kimberwick bits??

Personally, I like them for horses who are heavy on the forehand or if you need a little more 'whoa-power'. The kimberwicke provides more leverage than a bit with no chinstrap. Use the top rein slot for less leverage or the bottom for more. I also like a Segunda mouth snaffle. Thats a ported D-Ring snaffle with no chin strap, but they can be hard to find. Good Luck!!

thanks rock star. I actually found a Segunda mouth snaffle at a local shop but it was way more than i wanted to spend. I did order the kimberwick so we will see how a lworks. A little more woah power is just what i needed.

I agree with rockstar...we had a horse who went much better in a ported bit, and the Segunda really did the trick. There are always a couple floating around e-bay for under $30 or from Doversaddlery for $35!
