The theme song is Funky Kingston by Toots and the Maytals.

Otherwise, you've pretty much covered it, fiesty!

ONE MORE TIP:

This forum comes with a handy dandy "Find" feature (equipped with stylish magnifying glass). You can use this find feature to type in a search term. Please use it. It's swell.

I actually asked mod-ivy once if there was a list of trigger words available, and there isn't. But apparently "f@iry fatigue" is one of them.

Yes, I have spent time with monks.
Yes, I have met a woman. Sadly, it didn't work out. She didn't know what Bhagavad Gita is.

Q: I want to be an artist, what do I do?
A: Contact a local shop and seek an apprenticeship. There is no other way to be a legit artist these days.

Q: I want a tattoo by x artist, here is my email, please contact me
A: They won’t contact you. They are too busy. If they were to contact everyone who wants a tattoo by them, they would be emailing 24/7

Q: I know about Garver and True Tattoo, but where does Darren work at?
A: Brass City Tattoo in Connecticut. Although not sure how long he will be there for, as he has hinted at moving to Miami permanently. http://www.brasscitytattoo.com/

Q: How much does a tattoo cost?
A: Artists almost never give a price quote on the phone (or the net). It all depends on the size and level of detail required. They typically charge per hour, and GOOD artists will typically charge from $90 - $200 per hour.

Q: My tattoo is healing weird. It has xyz problem, what do I do?
A: Call the artist who did the tattoo and ask them about it. Go in and see them if you need to. Every skin type is different and will react in a different way to ink and needles. While there are certain guidelines to healing, your artist should know what is right for you and your tattoo

PS - I would love to keep this thread as clean as possible. Lets try to only have actual Questions with Answers in here. Don't talk about random things and if you have a question, ask it in your own thread. This way, Q&A will be much easier to find.

Ok the sign on the wall says "Ask us about piercing" So I'm asking, do they plan to film a piercing? Can TLC do that?
It bugs me that cable TV blurbs the cuss words. Opps i digress just answer the real question and ignore my chatter.
Thanks

Smarti -
I downloaded Funky Kingston from iTunes but it sounds nothing like the Miami Ink theme. I know that the show's credits say "Funky Kingston" but is there something wrong here?

Better answer is -- a really good artist will quote you on a piece, not on a hourly basis.

Just got a tat at miami ink. They are very pricey, but when you want the very best......

Katya (sp?) did my tat, and I love it! She should be on the show sometime!

Did you have an appt or did you "walk-in"? That's my big concern...do you walk-in and actually get the tatt or do you walk-in and get told to come back another day. How would you rate that?

I suggest you ask this in a new thread since this is an area for finding info instead of asking questions. I believe I've heard that Ami and Yoji worked at New York Adorned, but don't take my word for it.

I walked in, waited a few minutes and filled out paperwork. Within 30 minutes, I had met the artist. About an hour later, the design was ready (I brought a difficult one).

Within 2 1/2-3 hours from walking in the door, I was done. About 1 hr 45 mins spent actually tattooing.
