Like medling, I just got a tat at Miami Ink .... Morgan did it. Not only did he do an incredible job ... he was a very cool guy. Actually everyone there was very nice, very laid back. There was a girl there, perhaps jorgie??! If so ... she'll remember the very freaky dude that came in looking for a tattoo with barbed wire and blood and for added creepiness . . . he wanted Satan tattooed on his wrist. Have to say the guy made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!!

The price was definitely higher than I would have paid back home . . . . but Morgan's work was worth evey penny . . Smile

I'm so confused. It says Frequently Asked Questions. And it's right at the top of the forums. So WHYYYYYYYY is it that so few people think to open it up before asking the world how to contact the shop or who sings the theme or who that AMAAAAAZING artist was who painted that picture that one time. You know...with this girl who was crying blood? That was awesome. I want that. Who was it anyways???? Big Grin

Thank you for compiling this list of faqs! I have searched all over the TLC site looking for info on Mark Ryden. I wasn't sure how to spell his name and was having trouble searching him on the web - you saved me a lot of time and frustration Smile

Where did you hear that the guys are only there from April - Sept.?? And if you are going to be down there, why don't ya just take a walk to the shop and see whats up. Thats what I plan on doing when I go down in August, unless I can get an appointment before hand.

Good luck bro!! I'm praying I get in to get some ink. My girlfriend hates tattoos, I have 3 and I'm dyin for another. This show has really helped turn her around on her opinion on tatts so I really would love to get one done by them with her there.

I have 7 right now and i am adding to the ones I already have. My husband hated them too but I was able to talk him into one. He loves it and is thinking about getting a second. I personally can't get enough. They are like potato chips to me. I can't have just one. I'm addicted. has your girlfriend ever considered getting one? Isn't she at all curious?

Sorry, chrislung, I don't know. Anything I post is just a result of watching the show. I don't have any inside info.

On page 1 of this thread there are several links to t-shirt vendors. I know the Deville site is in the process of being updated, but did you check the others? Good luck!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

It is not April 6... that is MY birthday and those born on that day are DO NOT have the same personality trait as the baldheaded beefcake.

Those born on that day are compassionate, witty, kind, happy, enjoy life, love & adore their family and friends, we don't get angry over minute things, we have patience, we don't hold grudges, we do not throw razors' accross the room like a child without a pacifier, and blah blah blah. Razz

FYI - Just returned from Miami, Average Tats price around the $300 thats average. We were told Tues-Thurs are the best times to walk in or after 7pm. We walked in and my husband got his tattoo in about 30 mins after arriving. They got to me about 2 hours later. It helps if you have your tattoo idea ready. None of the guys were tatooing, however, Nunez had an appointment for a sleeve with a guy. Nunez mentioned this guy had been trying for 2 months to get in. Walk ins only. My artist was Dan and he was amazing. The other guys were there in and out. Ami was out buying a dirt bike. He did take time to pose for a pic with me though, very nice.

Hey, just wondering, I'm no where near Florida, but I love the work on Miami Ink. Looking to get some more work done to me but I've been really unsatisfied with the work already done. Is there any way i can check up on an artist or any way I can tell that they are skilled in the trade? Please let me know, I'm tired of going to half-rate artists that don't really know what they're doing and it's reflected on my body for the rest of my life!!!

Kat...any good artist will gladly show you his/her Portfolio. You should be able to judge by the photos if the person is worthy of tattooing you or not. If they don't have a portfolio then I'd say it would be smarter for you to move on to the next one who does.

Roll Eyes:sigh: Have you searched the NET or visited your local library? No? Too lazy? Well, then Google it or Ask Jeeves. Type in Hand of Fatima or Khamsa or Hamsa or Hamseh.

Big GrinNow for your history lesson regarding its symbolism, tradition, and meaning:The Hand of Fatima/Khamsa (Arabic "five-fold",) Hamsa/Hamseh (Hebrew "five"). An alternative Islamic name for this charm is the Hand of Fatima or Eye of Fatima, in reference to Fatima Zahra, the daughter of Mohammed. An alternative Jewish name for it is the Hand of Miriam, in reference to the sister of Moses and Aaron as well as the Hamesh Hand. It serves as an ancient talismanic way of averting and getting protection from the evil eye, or more generally of providing a "protecting hand" or "Hand of God". It appears, often in stylised form, as a hand with three fingers raised, and sometimes with two thumbs arranged symmetrically. The symbol is used in amulets, charms, jewelry, door entrances, cars, and other places to ward the evil eye.

Some sources link the significance of the five fingers to the five books of the Torah, the Jewish name for the first five books in the Old Testament scriptures, or to the Five Pillars of Islam, the core principles of Sunni Islamic faith, though this significance may have been attributed after the fact to a symbol that quite possibly pre-dated both religions.

In recent years some activists for Middle East peace have chosen to wear the hamsa as a symbol of the similarities of origins and tradition between the Islamic and Jewish faiths.

Happy now? Roll Eyes Big Grin Razz Big Grin

I am going to Miami in a couple of days, I will be there for five days and I am hoping to get into MI for a tattoo. I know that the guys won't be there, but that they have several other artists working. I want to get a portrait and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a certain artist working there now that is good with portraits. I really wanted Kat or Garver to do it but I know they won't be there. What would the price be on a black and gray portait on the arm.

I'm sure the answer is "yes." After all, it is a job. Not even the baldheaded beefcake would be that much of a jerk, to refuse to tattoo a woman 'cause she's large.

In any job where you're in contact with the public like this you're gonna run into large women, and women who don't wear make up, and women who don't shave, and women who _______, whatever.

Q. How should I care for my new tattoo?

A. Exactly the way your tattooer tells you to care for it. If they did not provide you with care instructions, call the shop and ask for them.

okay...I have searched and searched, and clicked every button I can find, and I am still lost. I get an error message saying I do not have permissions to view other members' public or my space profiles, but I can't find out how to get those permissions. Am I overlooking something like an idiot, or is there a secret password I will get at some sort of forum initiation?

I think that is a fabulous question, and one that should be asked in the Tattoo Talk Show Feedback section. Smile

It will get more attention that way, since people usually just use this thread to find information instead of asking questions.

My bet is on Garver since Yoji continues to struggle with tracing a butterfly.

I agree the piece is stunning. Wish more of the shop displayed work of the artists. Darren's background as a major graffiti artist would certainly add something extra.

Well, where I come from great tats cost $90. and we´re not charged by the hour but the art. So if you wanna get great tats come down to Brazil, I bet you´ll spend less and you´ll enjoy the country. But of course our guys are not on tv......

Better answer is -- a really good artist will quote you on a piece, not on a hourly basis.

During the first season a girl came into the shop with her mother, just hours before turning 18. She wanted a tattoo of two little birds. Where can I find picture?

Kurt Halsey is the artist.

Always ‘member, never forget is the name of the painting. And yes, I took the time to look through his work to find the piece. You can, too.

And for those interested, this came straight off of Kurt Halsey's FAQs page:

You do not need my permission to get a tattoo of my work. I do not draw custom tattoos.

All, I don't mean to sound testy, but here's a quick reminder of how a FAQ works:

If you know an answer to a question that has been asked frequently in the forum, please post it in this thread.

If you have a question that you want other people to answer, please start a new thread in the appropriate forum after you have done a search to make sure your question hasn't already been answered.
