Stellafan - thanks for the recommendations. Does Janos (or the shop) have a website?

I think that if you just look you can find soemone in your own neighborhood that would do a wonderful job. I would love to have Garver do one for me, but I know ot would be virtualy impossible. I found someone who is like 5 minutes from my home and he is fantastic. His name is Chris Copolla and he works out of Inkman in NY. He also works at Liquid Metal in HI. He is awesome. And he is gorgeous. Anytime I have a little pain, I just look into those huge brown eyes and it's like a pain killer.

ok...this is why i took a vacation from responding to these..............

FIRST OFF>>>>>
sorry your appt was canceled...three months later.
but again i had no control on the sceduling of the show. i did try to inform everyone as soon as possible. as soon as i found out..........

SECOND>>>>>>>>>>>>
the reason we are doin walk-ins to try to make everyone happy.... if we were to set up the appts.. believe me half of the people dont show up and that is time wasted for the people that are already there...................

THIRD>>>>>>>>>>>
i'm sorry that the guys you see on tv or not there 24 hours a day but they DO need some time off...............
the artist we have ARE NOT scratchers, otherwise they wouldnt be there. we know the our customers are worldwide. so we have the best artist from around to respresent the shop around the world.. just because they are not on tv doesnt mean they are not good.......

sorry.... had to let that out...............

hey jorgie....is there ever a reason why there is not more of a focus on the other artists at miami ink instead of the 5 main guys...I am sure they do awesome work 2 and they should be spotlighted...lol...but maybe they don't want to be in the spotlight after all

Many have been saying the exact same thing for months. But NO, some people refused to listen.

Jorgie thank you for confirming what many have been saying for a while now.

well I am glad to see I am not alone in my impressions...

went to SoBe for the first time last August. I had seen maybe 2 epis at that point, out walking around one night, we go by the shop. Yoji is there and it was busy, but not insane. Talked with him a bit, really nice guy. told me to come back in the early afternoon if I wanted to talk to an artist and they would figure out prices, etc. We came back, I got a small tat (my first) from Morgan. I saw the other guys, but like I said, I didn't really watch teh show and didn't care that it wasn't one of the main four. Charge was $80 which he said was the minimum, otherwise it would be less since it was a small tattoo.

went back to SoBe this past feb. walked by the shop. it was wall to wall people, like the one poster said. only one of the main peeps was Yoji...a very rude guy walked up and asked what we wanted. I showed him the design for what i was thinking about...a stick figure design..maybe 3 inches long. He said, $300, maybe $350. HUH??? and this is if Morgan did it...

We thought this was ridiculous and if we could have talked to morgan, he may have cut the price, as I was a repeater and it was a simple design which he would have just traced...no color, etc. we asked to talk to morgan, the rude man said, no, look there are people waiting, do you want on the list or not?

we left disgusted because we felt the price was outrageous... I still want the tat, but I will find a local guy who I am sure is just as good!

Jorgie - I appreciate the apology, even tho it wasn't in your control. Regarding the other artists, I assume they are good. But, people do not go through the trouble to fly thousands of miles to get a tat by someone they have no clue how good their work might be. I do understand you being protective, but the shows viewing audience has no clue about these artists. It is what it is. The ONLY reason that MI is soooo successful is because of the artists profiled on the show.

Chica - I know EXACTLY the little receptionist you are speaking about. He was a rude and cocky. They lost me as a customer and a fan - I no longer watch the show.

The first thing any tattoo enthousiast / collector needs to do when wanting a tattoo is research the artist, look at portfolios to ensure that the artist’s work matches the style of tattoo they want.

While I fully understand that the “stars” of the show are not there 24/7, I think it would be a good idea to showcase some of the other artists on the show. Make their portfolios public on the web so we can see who is there and who we like.

So someone would go down for a walk-in, they would know the names of the various artists who could do the work the way they want it done. Not just be client #1522 sitting with artist #15.

However, if the portfolios were available when you are on site, and you are given the time to look over them, then it’s a different story. But judging by what the last few posters have said about the “rude” receptionist, I doubt that is the case.

I think the comment that taylortorg made about for every artist there are a dozen scratchers, I don’t think the reference was to the quality of the other artists, but more of a general reflection on the current level of tattooing overall.

I believe people have already commented that the artists there are good artists, someone even referred to Luke Wessman as being one of them.

That's exactly what I meant - thanks Twink. By and by, those are some very good suggestions.

Its all about trying to make consumers make informed decisions about what they buy, specially when it comes to tattoos. hehe

Did you book an appointment with Kat thru MI, True Tattoo, Elm Street, or a convention?

I went to her website katvond.net and e-mailed asking if she was tattooing at the show in Calgary,AB Canada in September. I was surprised when I got a response. Not sure how many people in line. I have paid $140 hour here in Edmonton.

Did she say if she was going to be taking appointments in Calgary? I'm getting my pin-up girl in July from a great artist here in town, but I'd love to see some of her work in person! Once you get your piece, please put up a pic on my site (www.tat2.ca) - I'd love to see what you get.

out of curiosity...why would you want a stranger to post a photo of their tattoo on your website?

I dont want a stranger to show me their tat. If you read my post you would know what the question was about;getting a large enough stencil for the whole back at once, instead of doing it by sections.I wasnt trying to bud in I just thought i would ask to see if anyone could help, thats all.

Uh... I believe josiemn's post was in reference to the one right above it by tat2ca. tat2ca said:

I don't even see stnsrlm as having done a prior post in this thread. So either someone has multiple accounts on this forum, or someone got confused in which thread they were replying.
