You can go to a standard site like yahoo, msn, jeeves etc... and type TATTOOS in the search.

A good way to get ideas is to look at Tattoo Magazines or go to this link http://www.bmezine.com/ It is an online community that I belong to. Never use an exact one unless it is like Tattoo Fash Art. Try to create something that is means something to you and tells something about who you are. Kind of like telling your story on your bodySmile

Hey Miami Ink... Since this is your first tattoo, while your looking for a design keep in mind this is forever! Its 2 times more the money and the pain to have one removed if you decide in twenty years you dont like it anymore! THANK GOD FOR COVER-UPS! Anyways... alot of web sites are going to try and charge you to view there flash and all that! There is no need in that! Focus on tat mags and other peoples tats while you decide! I suggest trying to stay away from flash! You dont want to be walking around with the same tat as 50000 other people! Go to the artist you want to do it, give him/her ideas of what youd like and let them come up with something for you! Theres nothing like one of a kind tats! And atleast if you do use flash, change up the colors and little details to make it unique! GOOD LUCK! Post pics for us after you decide and have it done! REMINDER-ITS FOREVER!!!

Flash can be good as a start to get ideas. I do not suggest anyone use them a a cookie cutter design. Many artist do their own fash. I have some originals that a friend who happens to be one of my artists gave my husband and I as a gift. I have them framed and hanging in my house!

my friends and i were looking at the flash designs on the wall while we were waiting for the artist to clean up before he started on my tattoo. my friends found some they really loved and they would use the flash as a basic idea and then customize it so it fits them a bit more. i think my next tattoo will probably be based on a flash design.

Go to your local Barnes & Noble and grab the following (usually in the Men's Interest section): Skin Art, Tattoo Illustrated, Skin & Ink, Tattoo, Tattoo Flash and Savage. Grab a cup of coffee in the cafe and start reading Wink Sometimes you can find books of tattoos and symbols in the health/beauty section, too.

I also spend some time on-line looking for ideas. Google images has been VERY helpful in that regard. When researching a koi fish tattoo for a cover up, I found all sorts of flash, actual tattoos, pictures of the actual fish, etc. I was able to give the artist I am dealing w/ a big stack of stuff to work with Smile

Also -- visit shops. Lots of shops, if you can help it. Most shops have some sort of visiting hour-type thing where you can look through flash books, magazines and artist portfolios. Talk to clients and artists alike.

Most importantly: TAKE YOUR TIME. It's better to wait 5 years to get the perfect tattoo than to get something you won't be happy with. Cover-ups are often possible, but not always. And laser tattoo removal? It costs an average of $2500-$3000, with several bi-monthly sessions (7-10 on average).

BEST OF LUCK to you, regardless. And be prepared: tattoos are addicting!
