Hey! You mean an ASPIRING artist? Just teasing...

Study and practice all the art you can. It also helps to have some tats yourself. The more you know about art and the more you can create art, the more you will have to talk about with the tattoo artist when you go get tattooed. You never know, he/she could be impressed and hire you.

Keep yourself in the tattoo environment. Try to make friends in your local tattoo shops.

This is a difficult business to get into, but keep your head up and good luck to you. LOL maybe when you become an accomplished tattoo artist you will then be an INSPIRING artist! Wink

Option #1 The new guy that was living in ??Costa Rica?? said he was in a gang and he taught himself by doing tats on other gang members. That is the worst way to learn and it could get you thrown in jail.

Option #2 see if a shop will take you in as an apprentice, but that will take a long time because you will spend more time cleaning and sweeping than learning.

Option #3 Go to a school, I did a google and found schools listed in Louisiana, New York, Washington, If you look you can find one close to you. School is faster, but most shops look down on people that went to school. They feel that people that go to school don't have the commitment that a person that paid his dues through an apprenticeship. So trying to get a job in a shop with a school diploma may be difficult

My vote is apprentice, but it can be very hard to find someone willing to take you in.
