I absolutely hate that all there seems to be on Discovery these days is car, motorcycle or bike shows. I likes it better in the old days when you learned something when watching Discovery. I don't care about see ing someone make a wacky looking car or boat.
I do like the new show I Shouldn't be Alive. But what happened to the nature shows and Suprise by Design. Those are good shows. I learned so much from Robert and Rebecca.
Shark Week, now that's was one of the best weeks in tv history, but now it's like I've seen everything. I'd like to see more about sharks.
Please, please, show less of the mechanical stuff and go back to your roots
Hey, just wanted to thank you for your honest comment, and let you know we'd read your post.
While we don't have plans to bring back Surprise By Design at the moment, in the next few months look for new shows on all kinds of subjects you identify with Discovery Channel, including nature. We'll just be telling our stories in a fresh, contemporary way.
Actually, around here the staff is super excited about the shows we're starting to roll out; we hope -- and think -- you will be too.
Again, thanks for taking the time to tell us what you think.
I'd like more details about shows that really interest me, for example, you really hooked me last Memorial day weekend when you played a Deadliest Catch marathon...I had no idea there was that much action and adventure going on on the other side of the U.S., and rumor is there is another DC season in the making, but if the show was as popular with others as it was with me, why not do more or make shows that are related to Deadliest Catch such as the history of crab fishing in Alaska, maybe crab fishing in Russia and how it relates to Alaska, the fishing lifestyle in Alaska and those who've lived it all their lives, etc... I dont mean to just specify Deadliest Catch, you've had many really interesting shows and sometimes a one hour show or one hour a week isn't enough when you have something really special.
With regards to American Chopper - I think that the schedule this season could have been done a little better.
American Chopper seems to have two totally different type of fan. There is the one that watches for the bike builds and the other that watches for the characters. The bike build fans feel cheated when there are too many character based shows in a row, eg, two weeks of visiting Europe and then a behind the scenes show. The fans of the characters (like myself) will watch anything ...
You could possibly keep the majority of the fans happy if you were to intersperse the character driven shows with the bike build shows a little better.
Hey all, I think Discovery is wonderful. you have such range, for all types of people. I would like to see one that related to a wife, mother, PTA all that stuff has real action, romance, drama ect... I think fans would enjoy a reality show that involes a family, not six singles in a home (not the real world), but a home with children, pets, PMS, all the good bad and ugly. well keep up the great shows and thank you. delanty
Just wondering where the show "Top Gear" went to. While I agree there is a lot of automotive/motorcycle shows on Discovery, which I enjoy - Top Gear was refreshingly different and very enjoyable to watch. Compared to the US shows - IE Monster Garage and American Chopper, Top Gear was unique and very entertaining. Are there plans to run any new episodes in the future?
I sent an email to programming a week after the last Top Gear aired. I was told it was not cancelled and would begin airing in December. Well , it is the middle of December and still nothing. When will this show begin airing again. There is only one other show that even comes close to the content of Top Gear and that is Fifth Gear on the Speed Channel. While this show helps to curb my jonesing for high end exotics it does not hold a candle to Top Gear. PLEASE let us know when Top Gear is going to be on again.
I would like to see a reality show about the life of a zookeeper and what they go through taking care of the animals and raising funds to keep the zoo operating. Perhaps you could show the zoo or the Aquarium in New Orleans and how they are getting back to operational after Hurricane Katrina.
A long time ago DC had a program on about all the latest electronics, technology and all that kind of stuff that would be coming out soon or in the near future. They really wen't into detail on the new products.
I'm not really saying that DC should bring that particular show back, but at least bring out a show that has the same concept.
Top Gear was one of the best shows on Discovery, IMO! But, I understand the show is coming back "Americanized", which really has me upset. Who ever the new hosts' are, they have big shoes to fill!!
But, come on Discovery, you know what we really want. We want stuff like "Biker Build Off" between Jesse James and Paul Jr.; a Hot Rod build-off between Boyd and Chip Foose; Billy Lane to take over "American Chopper".....
I had an idea the other night right before nodding off. I was in bed all snugly and I decided to kick my wife's leg to wake her up! She wasn't happy needless to say, but I just had to make sure that my idea was told to someone because as a typical guy I could have easily just forgotten it! But my wife she remembers everything.. She also reminded me to night to write you at Discovery. My name is Gerard, my wife's name is Monika Hello Discovery!!
Monika and I are huge OCC fans.. Here is my idea! American Chopper is super loved by so many people just the way it is. But creativity, novelty, and new ideas are what brings and rebrings the joy to fans. Some times the fans can help out with this part and here's my effort.
I've always loved Discovery's 'Biker Build-Off' shows.. these shows are competitive and I also know that our beloved Tuetul's haven't participated in Biker Build-Offs and we fans appreciate their decision.. But!!!! What about an internal Biker Build Off Show!! ??? How about all the guys split off by that I mean.. Paul Senior, Paul Jr., Vinney, Ric, Cody, and yes Mikey!! These guys get a partner .. anyone of the guys from the shop.. and the Biker Build-Off begins!! But.. here's the procedure... All the Bikes get built first.. the process is taped straight through until the end...When all the Bikes are done, they are taken to the 'announced' location for judgement!! The good part will be that the Bikes will not be identified by builder, but instead by a number, and the fans will therefore not be influenced by the builder's popularity or lack thereof!! The winner of the Build Off will be based soley on talent, style, and all the things that make a winner!! Of course when the shows are running the viewers will all know who is building what bike.. but the viewers will never know until the end who the mystery winner will be, and becasue the winner was chosen in anonymity.. this will make for many viewers to tune into to see who the crowd picks! I would just love this idea and I would definitely tune into to every show!! If you decide to use my idea all I'd want would be a pass to be able to come into the shop during the Build Off anytime I'd like *with my wife* because that would be the thrill of our lives.

Addendum: The thought behind my idea of an 'Internal Biker Build-Off' is the chance that a guy like 'Ric' or 'Vinny' could actually win the build-off... or even Cody... This isn't to make Senior or Junior look bad.. this is to bring out the best in everyone individually!! You just never know who might do what with a Bike Frame.. It could be amazing!!
'Beyond 2000' was a wonderful show that has been proceeded by 'Beyond Tomorrow', produced in Australia. 'Beyond Tomorrow' is currently being aired on the Discovery Science Channel.
while i loath "american chopper" and agree that discovery (and TLC) should get back to their roots, i have to plead my case for "Top Gear"....
for years i've had to make due with downloading episodes on-line, all the while wishing it would be shown here.....SPEED helped this craving when they picked up "5th Gear" but that seems to gone away as well.....i was ecstatic when i saw that Discovery was showing "Top Gear" and saddened to see it off of the program calendar.....i'm saddened even more to see that Discovery is putting together an americanized version of the show....
please, please bring back the proper UK version of the show!!! The charm of shows like "Top Gear" and "5th Gear" is inherent in their on-air personalities and the the vehicles they drive....there is no successful american equivalent and i doubt that there ever could be - american car shows are all aweful.....
Because of "Deadliest Catch", "Mythbusters", "Going Tribal" and "Top Gear" I returned to Discovery as a viewer after a long hiatus, I'd like to stick around.....
My new favorite show is "Cash Cab". I have been telling everyone about it. Disappointed that it is only on for half an hour the week after Xmas. Look forward to watching it every night. Enjoy the questions and the "people" - lots of fun to watch.
I'd really like to see the UK version of Top Gear back on Discovery Channel. Every Thursday, a couple of friends and I would discuss the prior day's episode at work. Top Gear is truly a gem of an auto show - witty, refreshing, engaging. It is nothing like anything else I've seen on Speed Channel, Spike TV, PBS, etc., and that's a GOOD thing!
Hi, I would like to see the specific advices of what we can do to stop the Earth heating, that is the most important theme that you should have in mind, you, the TV are the only one who can make the whole world alert and start changing!! this is important you should do it.
