man vs. wild sucks!!! He doesn't even film it himself. I feel like I'm watching croc files!! No offense to croc files that was actually more interesting!1!!!!
Survivor Man is the best show you have ever aired please put more shows on. It is no comparison to Man Vs. Wild ( if you are going to get rid of a show get ride of Man Vs. Wild) Please consider my request.
Your man Bear seemed to be a nice guy on Leno. He handled himself well there and his story of the broken back and then going to Everest was good. Having said that... You cannot replace Les Stroud with Bear. Les Stroud's show Survivorman was the best new show on TV I think. The whole being alone thing is key to the interest. I only am worried that Stroud might die. If that is the reason you are moving away from Survivorman that I could accept. But I hope it isn't because of contract demands or something like insurance or something tawdy.
Survivorman is far superior. Les did it on his own, his narrative was simple and profound and his show was different from anything else on television. Man vs Wild cannot compare. We've had the best. More please. P.S. Thank you Les. 1luv from The Bahamas. dduncombe@gmail.com
hey! i just posted a discussion on this, I didn't see it. I dont like man vs wild that much either. Check out my discussion: WHERE DID SURVIVOR MAN GO?
He <Les> is working on new shows for OLN-Canada and Discovery Channel due Feb of 2007 as per Les Stroud online web site
Man Vs Wild is such major Crap!! Very much like a version of Hollywood Survival reality program. Natl Geographic style, nice Camera angles but not much honest survival skills being utilized. While Les is pure, no pretensions, while Bear is all about playing to his audience, quite lame.
I love 'Survivorman' and can't wait to see more episodes, but I also like Bear Grilles and 'Man vs. Wild'. The two are nothing alike, and think the two along with 'I Shouldn't Be Alive' can all live on the same channel and same night.
I think Les Stroud's SurvivorMan series is great. A lot more useful to the "average" person that might be stranded somewhere. Les Stroud is believable, and his techniques generally seem workable, whereas Bear Grylls' Man Vs. Wild show is for the "hardcore" survivalist. Some of the stuff he does can't possibly be done by the general public. At least I don't think so. For instance: climbing 100 feet straight up to the top of a tree in the Amazon; climbing almost a hundred feet straight down a raging waterfall; or climbing across a two-rope bridge spanning over a hundred feet across a gorge in the Alps? No way. I just don't see it happening.
I concur. I also believe that if there were a survival challenge between Les and Bear, I'd put my money on Les!
Don't get me wrong, I also watch Bear on Man vs. Wild. I enjoy it, but that show simply isn't at the same level as Survivorman.
Les is more personable, more down to earth and shows us the hard realities of survival. I love his self-deprecating humor too. I mean, let's face it: If an expert such as Survivorman messes up, it must be hard. He really gives us a taste of survivor reality.
They are throwing tons of money at Man vs. Wild with tons of advertising. But, where is the original SURVIVOR MAN?
PLEASE BRING BACK SURVIVORMAN!!! Les is my FAVE!!!

In an interview Les had stated that he wishes to continue Survivorman but he wants to have more time off inbetween shooting episodes due to the wear his body takes. If Discovery Ch decides to grant Les his wish then more episodes will be on the way. Until then he will be used sparingly in different ways on Discovery. Les is legit, hope to see new episodes!
I love and miss the show. Les is a very entertaining personality. I've already watched every episode in Seasons 1 and 2 multiple times and hope they produce more.
The show probably is really hard on the body. But maybe production costs go up when there is too much time between episodes?
