I watched the episode in which Maryanne and Cap Post had their son through a wonderful surrogate mother named Trish. Anybody who is fortunate enough to find a woman as selfless and loving as Trish is so amazingly blessed. I realize that the Posts do appreciate the amazing gift that this woman has given them, however, it would have been so much more meaningful and sincere had Maryanne Post given Trish the respect, honor, and dignity she deserved in the delivery room to have a moment with the child she had just given birth to rather than hovering over him and removing him right off of her stomach before she even had a moment to even glimpse the miracle she had just brought into the world! I realize that Trish carried the child with the intention of giving that child to the Posts as their own, and that is exactly what she did. But, just because surrogacy is a viable option in today's world does not take the human element out of the equation. Trish felt that life grow inside of her for nine months, wondered about who it was and what it would look like, loved it so unconditionally that she was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice that a mother could make. The very least she deserves is those few precious moments immediately after birth to look at that child and touch him and say goodbye. Maryanne Post forever denied her that and in spite of whatever words she said then and may say now, that showed a complete lack of trust and disrespect for the woman who just gave life to her son. I do understand being caught up in the emotion of the moment, but she had 9 months to give a great deal of thought to how she should handle that moment. Obviously she only thought about what that moment would mean to her. God Bless Trish.
