The San Juan Islands in Washington State would be a beautiful location and there is such a wide variety to choose from. From the lighthouse of Lime Kiln, incredible Orcas Island, to the view of Mt. Baker from Constitution Trail. Even Hurricane Ridge near Port Angeles is unparalleled in views of the entire Olympia Range.
Crescent City CA... Battery Point Lighthouse... wow, the incredible views of there! Check out this link: http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=58 I mean, the Redwoods at your back, mountains in the distance, the Pacific Ocean at your feet, tidal pools and sea stacks... what else could a person ask for?
Check out this link for an incredibly unbelievably amazing place... Mono Lake, CA.... Very unique setting... http://www.pbase.com/zeroscan/monolake2
Then there's Lake Superior... Water as clear as glass, beautiful carved rock formations jutting out everywhere, (http://www.lakesuperiorphoto.com/lake_superior/photos_Lake_Superior.html) and there is undeniably one of the most beautiful islands anywhere... Isle Royale. Need I say more? From the greenstone that lines the beaches naturally to the moose, wolves, deer, fox, etc., to the remoteness and seclusion of it all... a breathless experience. The ultimate destinatioN!
And one other slightly alternative place for a sunrise.... Chicago Harbor. Birds galore, and where else can you see such a beautiful sunrise? Right across Lake Michigan, directly above it, and watching the ships lumber slowly out of the harbor....
There's so many beautiful places in the world, I think everyone could just go on and on. Or maybe that's just me... lol
I agree. Isle Royale is one of the most beautiful islands on earth. I spent 10 days on the island in May 2007. Other than only one day of slight drizzle, the weather was perfect and the scenery was astonishing. We saw 14 moose and one wolf during our stay and witnessed some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the world. I can't wait to go back this year. Check out these photos of the sunrise on Feldtmann Lake. You'll wanna go when you see them.
