This backyard was a pool surrounded by grass with a single lemon tree. There were already trees in the front and side of the house that provided good nesting sites for cardinals, doves, mockingbirds, owls, and woodpeckers. My goal with this project was to convert this backyard from songbird flyover territory to a haven not only for the birds but also for reptiles and amphibians native to the area. It has only been a few weeks and already I have attracted all of the birds on my wish list except for the woodpeckers.
