She doesn't act like much of a Christian.

And I should worry about your opinion of me? I am not much of a Christian because I choose to stand up for myself and the Duggars and not cowtow to people who want to bash them and bash me because I don't worship at the almighty altar of "the environment". No I worship the Creator of the environment and will not be bullied into doing something I don't want to by people who think a child's life is less important than our precious planet.

As a Christian I stand upon my beliefs and I do not back down from them or cower in a corner when someone puts me down. I stand strong in my beliefs.

I happen to be a life long Christian, and a ministers wife (also Army Chaplain) and mother to 2 beautiful children who are being brought up with the love of Jesus Christ.

And I am teaching our children to stand up for what they believe in and not to cower when someone comes against them and questions them or tries to tell them they are wrong.

Gee Your comment inspires such warm fuzzy loving feelings in me when I read it.

Does your god aprove of such constant negativity?

ANd I certianly dont think someone is bullying you by makeing a connection between being envioronmentaly friendly, and it being comparable to loving ones neighbor.

If have read at least 20 posts in the last 2 weeks that tell people who use styrofoam and hairspray that we are terrible and are destroying the planet and are irresponsible. You call it what you want. But that is how I see it.

What negativity? I am responding to the negativity shown to me because I don't worship the Earth !

I have seen some of the post about the styrofoam issue. I mean its really common sense, you want to have 200 grandchildren, like JB said, then dont destroy the environment.

I dont think anyone is saying.. Everyone who uses even one styrofoam cup, in their life time is going to h.e.ll. I dont think anyone is saying that. What they are trying to say is anything in excess is bad, like mountain dew(gotta love that yellow 5), repubs in gov't(no names), and the duggars.(gotta love 'em)

They are saying that too many styrofoam cups are bad for the environment, and they(and anyone else) should at least be aware of it(since he wants 200 grandkids, that will have to live on this here Earth Wink If there is any room left.. )

3rd grade anyone??
doing a little adding and rounding..

20 people.
3 meals a day. forget drinks througout the day.. lets give them the BOTD..

so thats 60 cups a day.. times 365 is roughly 22000 cups a yr..

a family with 4 kids..both parents

18 cups a day.. times 365.. about 7000..

still bad but its not 22000..

What??

Im not saying, Im just saying.

If God made the earth, and you love and worship God, should you not love the earth and treasure it, respect it, and take care of it?

I worship the earth and all of her creatures, including the human ones, all of her plants and flowers and trees, her air and water and every treasure she gives us, because the earth was uniquely created for us to thrive on. We have a responsibility to take care of it, not destroy it. If we destroy the earth, we only destroy ourselves.

I agree! Using a little is not bad at all, but when you eat off of styrafoam and paper plates everyday with a family of 20, then that is a waste

Since you all seem to be more obsessed with me than the show maybe you should start a group just to tear down other posters. Which BTW is against guidelines and has been reported as such.

Read back through all the comments on the top 10 threads and you will see many comments (by several posters)using my name in the posts. All of which I have emailed to the mod and had discussions with her via email regarding them, very cordial ones I might add.

I am not the one that brings up other posters by name and makes comments like I don't belong on the Earth. FTR this Earth is mine as well as yours and just because I don't worship the Earth doesn't make it any less so.

I have to say something here, but mom9900 has just as much right to post here as anyone else. I completely disagree with just about all her posts. I also think to present yourself as christian b ut insult someone in every single post is pretty low as I see her doing , however, just as much as her posts saying those who post a negative about the duggars should not post or why do we watch, and should stop watching, as much as i disike that, i would defend her right to post. here. yes I think she needs to chill but I would d efend your right to post here. Now with that said how grade school to go tattle to a moderator.the problem is not you posting here but your lack of being able to handle differing views and if your so upset and get so mad at responses then why do you post, but you have that right. But this baord is for those who agree or disagree, but if your going to claim to be a good christian post as such, that is my opinion, but even though i disagree with your posts and answers I would defend your right to post here like anyone else

Not one person said that using styrofoam made them bad people. This stuff is getting old. It does not make them bad people but it certainly does not make them earth conciouse. If we as people do not take care of the earth we really are not taking care of ourselves. I have to wonder if they are septic, which i bet they are are they throwing all that paper in the toilet. I have septic and we stopped throwing paper in there and it has helped. There are many things we can do to save the earth. I use hairspray but it can affect the ozone, but as muc has JB uses, I am more concerned for his lungs than anything else.

Mango, your right, it is time for me as well to stop engaging. now back to the Duggars, I can only wonder how many trips to the trash drop off they make in a week. I know we go once a week for a fmaily of four we have about ten to 12 bags of trash. I can only imagine how many bags they have

OOOO I can't even imagine it. With all those paper and styrofoam plastes they use it has to be a lot! They could cut back on their waste by using real plates and silverware. I noticed they have TWO dishwashers. Why not use it? They should make JimBob do the dishes after each meal Big Grin

Mango, I think your right lol. Also i bet JB's job is to do dishes so he uses paper plates instead. just throw them out. I just know since we stopped throwing the paper down the septic, it has made a huge differance. there area lot of things we all can do. Now see if he spent a bit more on better hairspray he might not have to use so much. To tell you the truth I am kind of surpsied t hey do not use cloth diapers, but then again it would be more work forthe girls

Third grade? No it's called following the rules which state to report a post that is against guidelines. Which I have done.

The last time I checked following the rules was the norm, not the exception.

Actually it has nothing to do with doing what your told, if that were the case, the bible verse posts would stop. the bashing of differing views would stop, but as adults you either choose to read or move on or respons. but i have problems with tattling. asan adult it is childish. message boards a re for adults and one d oes not need to run to a moderator with ooh all the posters who disagree with the duggars a re mean and evil. so far from the truth. tattling is not turning the other cheek, but then again since so many of us are so evil well hay. but also if moderators are biased then we have a problem as well. and it could be a huge problem. I have problems with posters who claim to have secret pow wows with moderators, it makes all look bad. but you still have a right to post here and i would still defend that.

For the last twenty years, they've alway had two babies in diapers. Always.

Sometimes (such as when Joy Anna and then the twins were little) they have had three in diapers.

Say they did eight diaper changes a day. 8 x 2=16 per day (sometimes more, if they had three babies)

16 x 365 days x 21 years (so far)= 122,640 diapers so far. Probably closer to 130,000 diapers since (as I said) they sometimes had three kids in diapers at a time.

130,000 diapers! Just imagine that pile! What a shame they didn't use cloth. Is being lazy one of the character traits they teach?

I do not care who moderatates what boards when a moderator is showing bias towards a poster and they are communicating privately then yes it most certianly becomes a problem. as a moderator there is no side to be take, and yes running to a moderator everytime someome says something you do not like is tattling. It is called being a grown up. So you now understand it is not appropriate to b thumping people with bible versus, using bible versus to attack people is not appropriate and if the moderator thinks it is appropriate she can email me and we will have a BALL with that one. This touches a huge sore spot with me, when posters claim to be having these emial meetings with moderators, it most certainly looks like bias and tattling going on and not cool in my book

Secret meetings. Talk about paranoia. I emailed reported posts. That is what you ARE supposed to do, HELLO!!! That is what the forum rules STATE. If you do not like them, by all means don't like them. But don't cry to me about it. There is no bias at all. If a poster has a question there is an email to contact a mod. They are there on EVERY forum across the internet. And mod's and posters have email conversations all the time. It doesn't mean there is a conspiracy, it's called a conversation where 1 asks a question and 1 gets an answer. WOW I could have had a V8 !!

Mom...

This is not constructive to the forum and this is getting way out of hand.

Maybe if everyone ignores everyone - then we can get an on topic conversation going again. Of course, I'm kidding about that... but seriously - enough is enough.

Mature - on topic - discussion. Please.

Yes, I agree. And also, I have better things to than go crying to some mod on a message board. This board is fun to post on, but it certainly doesn't concern my life enough to where I am going be get angry and have it ruin my day.

Actually you know i was thinking about your postgo, Mango and it might be something for the Duggars to consider, and worth putting in their contract and use a service. I am really, i think it would really work for a family this large. i personally used plastic but if i had that many children, i would not want my house over flowing with dirty diapers. let a service come get them

I actually think using cloth diapers and a service would fit more in line with their family spending practices, as well. It must be less expensive, over the very long haul of at least 19 children, versus disposable diapers. I don't know much about diaper services, but I think it's a good and practical idea. Also, considering they now have several washers and dryers in their own home, perhaps that would make cloth diapers more practical and economical for them. Cloth diapers are not very pleasant, but neither are disposable ones. Maybe cloth will make a comeback in these more environmentally conscious times.

Good question!

i really think it would be more cost efficant, at least you can get them cleaned right away. and i would think they would not sit as long. I also would love to see them have a vegetable garden. if they are so frugal, a garden would be a great idea as well as a learning tool. Let Michelle clean the diapers lol. but really they could easily have it put in their contract and it would be cheaper in the long run that plastic

The Bible does state that we are stewards of the earth. Maybe JB skipped that verse!

Here's how I look at it. Just me, nobody else has to.

Would you deliberately put poison in a glass of water and drink it? Would you give it to a family member to drink? A stranger? So why deliberately poison the air?

Would you put poison gas into your home on purpose and breathe it? I wouldn't. Any takers?

Would you throw all your trash into your front yard and leave it there to pile up day after day after day? Not me.

We are stewards of the earth. None of us has to do everything green. That would be impossible. But we can each do something, no matter how big or small. Even if we recycle one piece of paper a day, buy one energy efficient light bulb or appliance, drive one mile less, walk one mile more, it doesn't matter. We are doing something in honor of the stewardship that was given to us by whatever god or goddess we believe in, or even just in honor of ourselves or our descendants.

It's just a matter of common sense.

That's how I see it.

Perhaps Christmas we could send the Duggars a few packs of cloth diapers with instructions on how to use. Maybe that will get them thinking about them.

Goat mama (and cat mama, and cow mama... Wink ) I need to post that statement somewhere. It's so simple, and yet so to the heart of the matter. Though those who think that "being green" is somehow bad, that "tree huggers" are "earth worshippers", they who are so biased will not see sense even then. They will, no doubt, argue that styrofoam is like candy, no toxins there. Bring on the DDT, I don't want any grasshoppers near my corn! Roll Eyes
I can only hope that your message reaches deaf ears.

Thank you, Arnaras. But it's sad that some people are so afraid of anyone who is different, has a different view, or may be somewhat "progressive", that they automatically shut down and go on the defense and cannot process or listen to any other kind of opinion or point of view. It's that defensive, fight or flight aspect of the evolutionary process they would probably deny even exists.

Having said that, I wonder why anyone could possibly not want to keep their environment clean, regardless of whether or not they believe global warming or climate change exists. It just seems to be common sense to keep your own personal environment clean for the sake of your health and your family's health. If you love your kids and your spouse and your friends and family, don't you want the best for them? Don't you want them to be healthy and happy? Don't you think they, let alone you, deserve that? All other considerations aside, don't you want the best for those you love the most?

I think the Duggars have a great platform to evoke changes that will benefit others and the earth, and yet conform to their own personal beliefs and convictions. Buying used is recycling, when you come right down to it. So they are benefitting the environment whether that is their express purpose or not. Imagine all the waste they have prevented by recycling their clothing and shoes and other items, like toys and baby items. I think Michelle said something like that when she answered the carbon footprint question. Her answer, on the surface, was vague, but if you think about it, she had a good point.

I guess what I'm saying is that maybe we should all start looking at things from a different perspective and realize that, whether we know it or not, we may actually be doing things that are green and not know it. And having realized that, maybe being green will stop being scary, or strange, or tree hugging or earth worshiping. It will just become practical and sensible and we'll see ways it fits in to how we already live.

As for me, I know I can do a lot better as far as being green goes. I can do a whole lot better. But I'm making a start. I'm proud to say I have a gray water system and save rain water for irrigation. I compost and only use Diatomaceous Earth as a pesticide. The hoof kids produce all the fertilizer we need, to put it delicately. But I am an absolutely awful gardener. I cannot grow mold on cheese. In that, I empathize with the Duggars lack of garden. It's hard work to start off fresh and do all that groundwork, pun intended. It's also frustrating and traumatic when everything you plant dies because you are the walking plague to seeds and seedlings. Maybe they've tried to garden and it hasn't worked for them.

Anyway, to stop rambling on here, maybe the whole concept of being environmentally conscious would be less frightening to people if they only realized there are some things they already do and don't realize it.

My dear, beloved husband, RevGoatPapa, was not the most environmentally conscious person when I met him. But he is a bit of a, um, tightwad. And he looks for stuff used and cheap or free. When we discovered freecycle.com, his world changed. He felt great joy. Now he finds all kinds of stuff for the farm that gets recycled for our own use and he feels so happy and proud of himself. When I told him he was recycling and helping save the environment by keeping stuff out of landfills, he was amazed. He thought he was just being cheap! I appreciate that man so much!

So who knows? Maybe there is hope for the world after all. Smile

Woah...this thread is crazy!

But lets get back to the original topic for a sec people.

patriciabafalis- You really think the world would be a better place if we were all like the Duggars??????????

Hahahahahahahhahahahah---wow that kills me!!!

Lets pretend for a second here that we really were all like the Duggars...

First of all we would all be working at small, family owned buisnesses. Easy stuff like car lots, small stores, shops, and what not. None of us would have an education therefore doctors are certainly out of the question in this case. G-a-ys (its a trigger word) would be so ridiculously oppressed that it would be extremly sad. Now im not saying that the Duggar family has ever came out and said that they are against it, but come on, we all know that they are...

Also, the women would all be house wifes unless they are needed to work with the amazing smart men at their small busnesses. (like the car lot)Girls would know nothing but how to cook, clean, and run a house. If you think about it, half the people in the world are women, therefore if you make them all house wifes then we would have half of everything...meaning a lot of good inventions and ideas came from women. Say the person that envents the cure for cancer someday, is a women! If we all lived like the Duggars we would never know that.

Ohh and not to mention that we would all be courting...not dating, meaning that we would have our dad pick the guy for us, and stay with him FOREVER...NO MATTER WHAT! If he beats you...umm you married him...thats your problem. So we would all be married to people that be barley know and met only a hand full of times before the wedding.

OHH AND LETS NOT FORGET OVERPOPULATION!

Last but not least...we would all be these cookie cutter people who all look and act alike...then one day we would all go to Wal-Mart and buy the same shirt and wear it on the same day!!! Ooo fun. Razz

I really hope you read this Patricia...and maybe you wont think the same way about wanting us all to be like the Duggars.

You are funny!

I keep teasing my dd about buying shirts alike and she will not even consider it.

Sometimes I can come up with some idea's that are not really so great. My dd and I look a lot alike and the mall was having a "Mother - Daughter look a like contest", so I begged her to enter with me. I should have considered her being 7 or 8 months along with my grandson would have some negative sway with the judges. We did not even place.
