It looks to me from previews, that the long awaited question and answer show will be next Tuesday night in an hour long special. It will be very interesting to see if any "hard" or "difficult" questions will be answered, or if just the "soft" and "friendly" ones will.

I am sure it will be questions that the general public would ask and not those that have any substance.

We will get how they travel, are they going to have more children, what is their grocery bill each month, can the kids go to college...etc

They will be the same softball questions that the Duggars can smash over the fence. The thing is that I feel like the obsesses type folks (us and other websites) are the ones that keep this show alive, not John Q. Public. Real quesions and answers would be great.

From the preview, somebody did tape people asking the questions and they are watching it on their computer. I don't know what the question was, but Michelle's response was "How do I answer this politely?" It's probably not nearly as enticing as they want us to think. It's probably just a hook to get us to watch the show and find out what they asked her.

I would love to find out more specifics about the life plans of the older Duggars. Career/education plans, that kind of thing.I don't really expect them to answer financial questions. I know I sure wouldn't. But I'd love it if the kids themselves got to speak to those questions and give specific answers not just JB saying what their options are.

But you know KB, they have answered them before and will do so again, because those are the SAFE answers.

I would just about kill to see one of those girls head off to college...any college...even a crazy religious college.

Good idea! But I don't know if they are taking any of the website questions, it looked like they were doing "man on the street" questions." But maybe there will be a mix. Let's hope so!

Did anybody Skype or ask a question by video ? I saw that in the preview. I can't wait for this episode.

This is going to be just the same old stuff it looks like. People on the street are going to ask dull questions because they don’t know anything about the Duggars. The questions we ask online are what the viewing population wants to see answered. I bet the “polite” question was the same one Kate (+8) would get asked- How do you find “private” time? Stupid Question. Kate never answered any real questions either. I hope they answer some of our web questions but I highly doubt it.

Well, it's obvious that they find some private time because they continue to get pregnant so that's a no brainer. I doubt they will answer anything they haven't already answered. One that needs to be asked is if they think it's fair to keep having babies for their older girls to raise. What choice does Jana, Jill or Jinger have when it comes to leaving home and making a life for themselves? Must they marry in order to leave the family compound? Lots of questions will likely not be answered but we kind of know the answers without them saying anything. They could NOT continue to have kids without the help of those older kids.

They obviously found "private time" on Father's Day! Eek But JB has mentioned several times that they go on a date once a week.

I think that comment by Jim Bob was extremely tacky. For such "Christian" people, Jim Bob comes off as pompous and self-righteous. Kind of like how Josh is now.

I agree that it's mainly just going to be fluff questions....most of which we already know the answers to....

Like they would really answer anything revealing, seriously doubt that....I heard one of the kids mention a question about fighting....we'll see...

I wonder about disciplining the kids. Do they get a chance to look back on the episodes and notice the kids running wild, doing dangerous or bad things. Example: before Anna's baby shower, one of the little boys goes and steals candy from one of the tables, and stuffs it in his pocket. I wonder how Michele feels about that behavior.

I'd really like to know how to make laundry soap, and what the recipe is for tater-tot casserole. And, how Jimbob can afford to feed all his kids and buy them clothes. And, what are the secrets to a successful marriage. And, how did Josh and Anna meet. Why don't they ever talk about those topics on the show?

The recipe for the tater-tot casserole is on their website. The laundry soap used to be, I don't know if it still is.

For their clothes, they "buy used and saved the difference." I'm sure that clothes are handed down as long as possible. Supposedly, they pay their bills from the rent they receive on several properties. Though these days, you know that they're paying for things with the money from their TV show, minus the goodies that they get for free.

Successful marriage... I'm guessing a genuine relationship based on love, and a relationship where the woman is subservient and doesn't ever have a final say.

I'm thinking she was being sarcastic because these are the only questions ever asked and answered on the show. We've seen them over and over and over again. Hard to have missed it in one episode or another.

I won't be surprised if they are the questions asked. Along with, Do they go to school? How much does it cost to feed them? How much laundry do you do in a week? Those riveting questions.

OK, I have another question for them that I'm sure no one else has ever asked & I'm sure no one here has even thought about....they used to have many home-made jumpers/dressers. I'm a conservative dresser & don't mind that type of clothing, but now that they have a bit more..ahem..Money, you never see those items of clothing anymore--not even on the younger ones who might be able to wear them. What about their waste not/want not mentality? Did they donate the clothes? Why would they not recycle them? Or are they hanging in their closets to be worn at say..a church function or social gathering where there are no cameras?

Here you go !!

Tater Tot Casserole
Ingredients:

2 pounds ground turkey, cooked, seasoned, drained
3 (2-pound) bags Tater Tots
2 10-3/4-ounce cans cream of mushroom soup
2 10-3/4-ounce cans cream of chicken soup
2 12-ounce cans evaporated milk

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Spread the seasoned, browned meat in two 9x13-inch casserole pans.

Cover the meat with the Tater Tots (you don't have to cook them first.) Mix the soups and milk together and pour the mixture over the top.

Bake for 1 hour. Serves 16 to 20.

Homemade Laundry Soap

This laundry detergent saves a huge amount of money. We buy its three ingredients for less than five dollars, and the resulting concentrate lasts our large family two to three months! It's a watery gel that produces low suds inside the washer. The ingredients are usually available in the laundry-products aisle of the supermarket — or order online. (Check recipes on the Internet; there's also a dry version of this laundry soap that's good for top-loading machines.)

Ingredients:

1 Fels Naptha soap bar, grated
1 cup washing soda
1/2 cup borax

Instructions:

Grate the soap bar into a small saucepan. Cover with hot water. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring continually, until the soap completely dissolves.

Put washing soda and borax in a 5-gallon bucket. Pour in the hot, melted soap mixture. Stir well, until all the powder is dissolved. Fill the bucket to the top with more hot tap water. Stir, cover securely, and let set overnight. The next morning, stir the mixture. Mix equal amounts of soap concentrate and water in a smaller laundry-detergent dispenser or container. Shake before using.

For top-loading machines: Use 1 cup of the soap mixture per load.

For front-loading machines: Use 1/2 cup per load.

I agree, he comes off very pompous. And somewhat annoying too. I don't know why he always feels the need whenever he goes places to tell people he has 18 children or his wife is pregnant with their umpteenth child. It's annoying cause it sounds like he's bragging and it's also like dude, nobody cares.

It especially annoyed me when it was the episode when Michelle and Anna had their ob appointments on the same day and he's up there at the reception desk saying "i'm here cause my wife is having a baby and my baby is having a baby." Okay, your special...

I hope you picked up on my sarcasm...

reading this over again, I hope its not too obvious I'm from California.. haha

Most expectant Dad's I know when they see anybody make a point of talking about the impending arrival and most of the time talk about the other siblings.

And to me JB is great. He is a wonderful husband and father.

I agree, the folks at the Docs office are aware that his wife is expecting and his son's wife is expecting....duh they are both patients there. And we all know because they immediately get the Today Show and People Magazine to make the announcement as soon as the stick turns blue. He just likes to boast, which, if I'm not mistaken is a sin according to the Bible. Guess he chose to skip that part and forgo being humble.

Well... if we don't count the fact that his daughters take care of his younger children more than he does, that he pays them only three cents a chore, doesn't allow them to have lives outside of their family, does not consider college or a career as a prospect for his daughters

Then yes, other than all that I think on the surface he genuinely loves his children and is a good father.

Being proud is no better than bragging. "Pride goeth before the fall," and all that. At this stage in life, he should just wait and let others ask him how many kids he has. Of course, the entire country knows, except those who live under rocks, so he has to brag because no one would ask him.

I was very proud the day my kids were born, as were most parents I know. When my son scores a touchdown in football I am the 1st one to my feet and I am PROUD. When my daughter scores a goal in soccer, I am the 1st one high fiving saying "that's my girl".

Nothing wrong with that!

Yes, I think all good fathers give their daughter three pennies for mopping the floor.

Three cents per chore. . . I wonder how the girls feel after they clean a bathroom and then receive three cents for their work. I'm sure they feel full of pride and happiness, and that they can't wait to go out to spend their money!

But that's only if the whole family goes to the store with them. Can't have them go by themselves or they might be tempted by the big evil world.

I would rather get nothing than the lousy 3 cents per chore.

Now that JB has the TLC money coming in he could also buy his children new clothes once in a while. And a few sets of sheets and some nightwear for the kids. You know, normal things most parents buy for their children. I am wondering if they buy used underwear for the children?

As the Duggars would say-buy used and save the difference. Sorry, couldn't resist. But I do know that they buy them all used shoes. In the one episode they went to the thrift store and stocked up on clothes and just bought a bunch of shoes and said they will fit somebody. In my opinion, that is just plain nasty. Used clothes I can see, they can be washed. But I draw the line at shoes. First of all, you don't know who wore them and second of all, they are already molded to someone's feet. So they can't fit very well.

As someone who has purchased many a used shoe in her day, the kids wore shoes from the local consignment shop for years and there was never a problem. We washed them in the washer or cleaned them with antibacterial spray and then put new insoles in them.

Three cents is just insulting. I agree, I'd rather get nothing at that rate.

When I was growing up, my brother and I would get an allowance. It wasn't much when we were little, and it never got to be a huge amount even when I was a teen (though it definitely increased.) Thinking about it, for my chores/allowance, I never was 3 cents/chore.

I truly hope that they at least buy new undies. Shoes are a gray area to me - it depends on the kind of shoe - but undies should definitely be buy new.

I'll agree he's more affectionate than Michelle. But this is the same man who considered watching his *own kids* "babysitting". To me, he's mostly disconnected from his kids, popping in from time to time to say hi and give love. Otherwise, he's just the leader and preacher.

Josh is an arrogant, selfish, immature guy. He's bought into JB's BS, and perhaps even taken it to a new level.

Personally, I wouldn't want either as a husband to me or a father to my kids. Sure, you could do worse, but you could also do a lot better.

On an episode lately one of the little boys was sleeping with not a sheet on the bed. Another one was sleeping in his day clothes.

I have also seen them go shopping at the thrift store and stock up on shoes and clothes. As someone else said cloths can be washed, with the exception of used underwear which I think should be thrown away.

Next time I am at the Podiatrist'a Office I will ask him about using used shoes for children. I personally do not believe in it.

I have answered you quite nicely, I would appreciate in the future if you would address me in a more civil tone. Thank You.

I have often purchased shoes at garage sales and consignment/thrift stores over the years so obviously I do not feel it to be a "nasty" practice. You can find good quality shoes that have never been worn or are in like new condition that have not "conformed" to anyone's feet. They can be wiped out with an antibacterial spray as someone mentioned earlier so I don't see why that is considered nasty, but to each his own. I can't imagine Michelle would buy anything other than gently used or perhaps never worn shoes so I guess I just don't see a problem with it. There are a number of things about this family that I certainly don't agree with and I would not want to live my life as they do, however, buying used clothing/shoes does not trouble me in the least. Now, no sheets on the beds? Eek

I'm not for sure with regard to thrift stores, but I wouldn't think they would carry "never worn" shoes. But perhaps someone bought a pair, wore them a couple of times and they just weren't comfortable or the right size and took them to the thrift store. Which wouldn't be so gross, but shoes that have been worn alot by someone would be a little iffy, to me.

Then again, what do you wear when you go bowling? Shoes that a whole lot of people have worn!
