I happened to watch the repeat of the Bates family home renovation today. I wish we could see the end result soon! They are just the warmest, charming and centered family...I truly like them.

Oh...Josh and JD is their site completed yet? I'm guessing, no.

I just watched the Bates family episodes from this season. Poor Mrs. Bates. She kept saying "NO" to the remodel, but what could she do?

I think her wishes for a small and simple remodel should have been respected. It's HER house after all and she knows best what was wanted and needed. They are a much more down to earth and grounded family and I really don't think they wanted anything spectacular, fancy or huge and elaborate.

I want to see the results, too. I hope the Bates family are happy with however it turned out.

I'm not sure, but I think Kelly's protests were more for all the hard work she knew would be involved and she didn't want anyone being inconvenienced. She knows the family needs more room. The timing of the remodel was certainly inconvenient with her being so pregnant but, hey, hard to look a gift horse in the mouth. Don't understand why Michelle didn't just stay home with her little ones with help from Grandma Duggar instead of crowding them all in to the Bates' home. I don't know what Michelle and the little ones contributed to the remodel anyway.

Someone on another forum emailed Mr. Maxwell of the Maxwell Family website about the Bates remodel. According to the reply from Mr. Maxwell in October, the Bates remodel is not yet completed. However producer Sean is on the road with the Duggars, and from his twitter, there are planes to see the Bates.

I always think that everyone doing everything is at TLC's request. Sort of like everyone having to get up for the TODAY show spots. It is what makes them unique. Without all the kids around, they are just qooky ultra religious people.

You mean their house has been incomplete for months? And winter is coming? And they have a new infant, a recovering mother, and 16 other kids living amongst construction materials?

What kind of favor did the Duggars do? I'd be upset if anyone did me a favor like that?

Here's some advice: if you see the Duggar bus pull up in front of your house, turn off the lights, pull the shades, lock the doors and pretend you're not at home!

Did he get airsick when they took that plane ride over the Grand Canyon on their way to Disney Land? Seems like most of the kids got airsick, but I don't remember if JD did. He'd have to fix that problem to be a pilot anyway!

Yes - that is what it means. I find it to be distressing and feel like TLC should have stepped in and hired some contractors to finish the job - - - especially once Mrs. Bates had such a hard time after her last baby was born.

Surely they haven't left that poor family living in a building site? As i'm in the U.K. i don't know what the weather's like where they are but if it's really cold at this time of year there then i feel so sorry for them. I thought everyone loved the Bates family? Doesn't sound like a loving relationship to me much.....................

It will be very cold and snowy very soon in Tennessee where the Bates family lives. Some favor, right? With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Welcome, Hippymummy! It's great to meet someone from the UK.

TX LOL we have had rain here for the last three days and it has been flooding type rains and high winds, I know where they live well the area and the weather has been horrible there. I would love to see an update. I cannot say I agree with their lifestyle either, there is something kinder and more sincere about them than the Duggars. They do not seem comfortable with the big type of productions. Your right to the poster who said it is her house and she should have been respected.

I just have a hard time beleiving that the Bates, with 18 people or so lived in 1000 square feet of space.
It's not a lot of space. they must not have any belongings.
but they did have a basement she said. so maybe she was just really well organized.

the last Bates remodel looked like they had the structure pretty much done with the roofing on. so looks like most of it is done.

Just my opinion but it seems like many things the Duggars do is just for show. This may have been one of them. In that case, where is the motivation to finish the job?

Also, I don't understand why Michelle and the little ones didn't stay home either. What an undue burden on Mrs. Bates, especially when she was pregnant at the time.

Michelle couldn't stay home for two reasons.

1. The show is about all the Duggars so they are no doubt encouraged to go everywhere together.

2. Michelle can't take care of the "little ones" by herself. Since the older girls were helping at the Bates household, she had to take the smaller children where their "mothers" were or else she would have to do it herself. Oh the horrors.

There might be a third reason tied up in this as well about not being alone so not being tempted by things. I am not sure how far that goes with them but there does seem to be something almost sinful in their minds based on what we are shown since no one is hardly EVER alone.

I find it actually quite sad that emotions and feelings are made out to be dirty somehow. it is only dirty in the minds of the beholder. In my opinion, for such good Christians the lack oftrust is sad in my opinion. If you are rasied correctly lol lol, you can control yourself and if not you should be taught what to do in that situation. It annoys me when they make intamcy seem bad, even Michelle and JB make it seem yucky to me. Maybe it is me, and I am one of those liberal, conservatives I suppose, but your not literally going to catch fire with a peck o nthe cheeck.
