Crabitha, they are just plain fugly. They are the fugliest things you'll ever see. We've never eaten one. I don't eat anything I've named. It seems kinda rude to me. In fact, come to think of it, I've never heard anyone who has them talk about eating them. The eggs yes. The eggs are great. But as for eating the adults, I dunno. It would be kind of like eating a big old buzzard or something. Scary. I could eat my chickens. That would not bother me. I do not like my chickens. They are awful and nasty and dumb and they give me dirty looks and squawk at me. I have named them and tried to be nice to them, but they are hateful. Especially Original and Extra Crispy. Shake and Bake always tries to spur me. And Chicken Fried is just plain nasty. I used to like Chicken Parmigiana, but she's gotten all nasty, too. And we won't even discuss Barbeque. That little miss is evil. I'm gonna go stare at those chickens. That'll teach 'em. Especially Chicken Nuggets and Chicken Noodle Soup! They are mean.

Tx Goat mama, You are awesome! If you're unsure about the goat show, then think about writing a book. You're posts are great. My only request is that once those books start flying off the shelves, you don't let all that fame and fortune go to your head....or the heads of your furry or feathered family. If I all of a sudden see a post by TXgoatdiva or Txgoatbillionare I'll know you "went Gosslin." Just kidding, that just doesn't seem your style. Eggcellant chicken names!

I have always wanted to write mystery books. Only one thing ever stops me. That is some crazy goat mama who looks a lot like me but is lazy as can be.
My chickens are named out of my love and admiration for them. Some have names I cannot mention in polite company. One name in particular.
I ran into a friend of mine in the grocery store last night. I had a carton of eggs in my shopping cart. My friend asked me why I was buying eggs when I have chickens. I told her it was because my chickens have menopause. She said they won't lay for me because they don't like me.
I think I shall lose sleep over that. Not.

I found this quote on the website for the Tontitown Landfill...I figured the Duggars are responsible for this (at least in part):
"Northwest Arkansas has seen its population grow by more than 45 percent over the past decade. It is now the sixth fastest-growing region in America"

Yep, once all the kids reach 18 and can vote, JB will finally get that Senate seat.

It really does scare me when they put those little bubbles of information on screen about the number of grandchildren or great grandchildren the Duggars would have if all the kids have 19 kids. 19 kids having 19 kids is 361 grandchildren. 361 grandchildren each having 19 kids is 6859 great grandchildren. I think they'll need another bunkbed or two by then.

This is kind of off topic for this thread but I can't find the thread talking about their interaction with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
The town of Tontitown only has a population of 1,000 so you know it can't be that diverse demographically. Springdale may be a little more ethnically mixed, but I doubt it. When cities don't break down their ethnic demographics on their website, it usually means that they are predominantly white and they don't wnat to advertise it.
So, I don't care if the kids go to the little skating rink every Friday night, they are not getting to interact with a variety of people from different backgrounds. JB is wishful thinking. Their trips to NY and DC were as much exposure to diversity as they are ever going to get, and they really couldn't handle that very well.

Wikipedia says Springdale is 81.62% white and 0.82% black.

I can't help but wonder if you are all as critical about all the public schools in the US that have 100% white students because that's just what the population of the area is. I am referring to the hundreds and hundreds of small towns where there aren't any people of other races. So are those kids in those schools being deprived and are they getting an inferior education and having an inferior life because they aren't hanging around with blacks, hispanics and asians?

Well, I wouldn't say inferior, but maybe a different kind of experience. I went to high school in a very diverse area with filippinos, mexicans, blacks, asians and white and we had the opportunity to learn about the different cultures that maybe schools that are all white may not have gotten.
A town of only 1,000 people is inconceivable to me. I live in a very populated area of California. I can't even imagine. It looks like too where they live they don't really have traffic issues. Imagine! No traffic... crazy

I have to agree with Chris on this one. I live in a rural area probably less than 200 miles from where the Duggars live. In the small town where I live we didn't even have any black people until just recently. Diversity is sometimes dependent on geography. While I enjoy talking to people of other cultures (through work mostly) I would not trade the rural area I live in for all the diversity in the world if I had to live in a city. No thanks!

And that's fine if you prefer the quiet life of the country, but JB shouldn't sit on TV and claim that his kids have more interaction with diverse ethnic groups than kids in public schools and sports groups, etc. That's just crazy.

I don't know about getting an inferior education, but they are deprived in a way. I went to a Catholic grade school and everyone there was white, then I went to a public high school with LOTS of different nationalities. I think it is awesome to be able to learn about how other cultures live first hand.

In a word, yes.
