Sorry, but I think the Duggars have way too many kids! They are gorgeous chldren but 19 kids??? Who do they think they are? Having this many kids in todays world is absolutely disgusting! Over population IS a problem and will only continue to be a problem in this world. Do they not realize they are using up our planet's scarce resources and just adding more and more trash to our landfills? also, if they feel the need to have sooo many children why not adopt? I have one son and I would like to have at least one more child and when I do, I am going to adopt. There are plenty of children on this earth that need homes. I think the Duggars are selfish and egotistical. They are constantly using styrafoam and paper plates. Ugh it's disgusting.

I don't understand the paper/styrofoam plate thing either. I know that have a dishwasher. As far as the number of kids, it is a lot but I guess it's their right.

The Duggars have TWO dishwashers. They probably need like 4. It just makes me so mad that they have this huge family and they are wasting so much! I have a small family of 3 and I NEVER use paper/styrafoam plates. I do a few times a year If im going on a picnic or something, but daily meals at home I wash and reuse. They are so wasteful. It makes me sick. I bet they don't recycle anything either.

It cost more money to keep buying styrofoam utensils than it does to use dishes and just wash them. How many plates come in a package? With that many people they could use 3 packs a day....that's a lot.

Yes. They are losers and obviously don't care.

It's the same premise about cloth vs. disposable diapers. I have read several places that it costs MUCH less to wash a load of diapers than pay $20 a box for disposable diapers. Even if you used cloth about half the time, that would save a load of cash compared to buying disposables each week. If you have a high-efficiency front-loader washer (like the Duggar's have several), that savings would add up.

I must be missing something. I have only seen them using styrofoam cups while away from the house and the one time when Michelle was feeding the baby on the couch. I'm pretty sure I've seen several times where there were plastic cups lined up on nead the drink dispenser while they were getting drinks for dinner or lunch or whatever.

I didn't pay attention to the plates when they showed them moving thru the serving line, but I did see an episode where they were all seated and using real plates and bowls.

Guess with all the posts about it I will have to pay more attention.

I have seen episodes when they use real plates and cups, but alot of the time I see them using disposable. I just wish they would always use real plates.

I agree, Mango. Nobody needs 19 kids. We already know the Duggars are not the most environmentally conscious people and probably do not care or understand about overpopulation because "God gave them" these 19 children, it had nothing to do with the fact the JB was too lazy wear a glove or Michelle to take a pill.

You're right, this family wouldn't have the foggiest clue what's going on in the world and wouldn't read mainstream media and news (unless it involved stories about them). War? What War? Imagine how nice it'd be to just irresponsibly use as much plastic as possible and then conveniently leave it up to God to sort out the earth's mess? Can you imagine the amount of electricity they're using for that monstrous house and equally monstrous family? Why aren't they made to answer for that? OK then since they seem to have a fetish for 1800s style clothing and hair styles, why not use candles and wood burning fires to cook and boil water? And as far being responsible and using birth control like the rest of us heathens out there, can't do that, that CAUSED the miscarriage and we know 'cause God told us. Roll Eyes

They supposedly heat their water and run some electricity off of burning the trees that they cut down on their property. Kind of ironic, huh?

But they don't replace them with new trees to grow up in their place.

The Duggars are SELFISH and i agree with aussiegirl. The duggars probably never watch the news and have the slightest idea what is going on in our world today. They don't even care. They only care about themeselves and watch stuff about their crazy family.

Another thing that bothers me about this family is when Michelle and JimBob renewed their vows, Michelle wore a WHITE WEDDING dress. wth???? she is OLD and should not be wearing a dress like that. when normal people renew their vows they wear a nice formal dress but not a White wedding dress? She already got married it was ridiculous for her to choose that dress with the veil and all...sorry but it just seems like too much. These duggars really think that they are all that and a bag of chips and they are NOT.

hmmm, on behalf of all of us "old" women here, I dont' think 42 (or 43 or whatever she is) is old by any means! We are (hopefully) mature adults, but please don't call us OLD.

I didn't mean to call you ladies old. I was just implying that Michelle, being 42 or 43 is too old to wear that kind of wedding dress. Just saying.

The white wedding dress used to signify that a woman was pure and still a virgin at the time she married. Nowadays if we used that standard there would be very, very few girls who should wear a white dress. The original meaning behind wearing white is gone so as far as I'm concerned it really didn't make any difference if Michelle wore white, off-white or red white & blue.

Michelle wore a wedding dress because TLC has a contract with that NY wedding dress shop. If TLC had a show about a shoe store, the Duggars would get all new shoes. I'm waiting for them all to get tattoos from LA Ink.

That is true, but at the very least, Michelle should be one of the last to consider wearing white. I mean obviously she's NOT a virgin nor was she cheated out of a regular white wedding dress/wedding the first time. I could kind of understand if they had a courthouse type wedding but they had the whole 9 yards 25 years ago. I say this was all another publicity stunt for the show. The Duggar's are starting to look like the balloon family trying to make a buck.

I agree. She did not need to wear a white wedding dress. She should have picked a nice formal off white dress from that shop. I'm sure TLC did not force her to wear a wedding dress. They are just all about publicity and freebies. and in my opinion I didn't even think the dress was all that pretty.

I don't think boys who wear white dresses are allowed to marry in most states! Wink

Seriously, hasn't there always been a double standard though? It was always expected that the man would be experienced but his bride was supposed to be pure as the driven snow? Of course, how he was supposed to get that experience is a little questionable, but the double standard has been around for a long time.

I am voting for no comment please Smile

Typing in all caps is screaming on the net. Poor form. All caps and bold too.... Roll Eyes

The color of the wedding dress was over the top, but the wedding dress itself and the vow renewal was even more disturbing. This whole thing just shows how far the Duggar family has come from their original roots and beliefs.

I am not sure I would call them nuts, but they are dang far out there and poor Michelle just comes off as one crayon short of a box to me.

Oh, there's been a double standard for a long time now. But then, when your society has historically been run by men, what do you expect? They can make the rules to their liking, and indeed, that have. In many cases today, they still do. Frown
